Wow big news here today - Sony CANCELLED Spiderman4! Raimi out, Maguire out, Dunst out. They're rebooting it!

Guess they knew audiences just get thinner after 4th, 5th sequels. So they'e starting all over again, ala batman.

U'll hear about it soon.

I dunno his last drag me to hell was a total flop. And trhe script for S4 was so stupid - it was spiderman 3 rehashed with another bad guy. It was a "not another sequel" bomb waiting to happen - fortunately Sony go to their senses.

Sucks for maguire/dunst since outside spidey - they haven't had any hit - so their A-list days may be numbered. Fort. they both got millions.

Sucks though hundreds of union jobs, cast, crew, pre/post guys who were planning on working on it this summer - now just got screwed. Unless Sony creates a whole new Spiderman within weeks - which I doubt.

MaGuire just wasn't a compelling title character imo and made the movies awkward and boring (not that the spiderman mythos was all that compelling to begin with). If they polled audiences, that would probably have been a big deciding factor.

Backed by Activision/Blizzard Entertainment...they have deep pockets, especially if they want a Warcraft movie done right. Their all CGI game expansion trailers are ridiculous, I can only imagine a full length film of that nature. Visually I bet it would surpass Avatar. people are experiencing marvel overdosing. With Ironman 2 on the way, another hulk and/or xmen....another spiderman movie even if they redo it just isn't compelling. The only comic book movie series I want to see keep going is batman, but only as long as Bale is still doing it.

That's why I said visually it could surpass it, monetarily I don't think it would. Never know though, worldwide they have 11M+ subscribers

Another XMen: Origins
Avengers
Probably another Fantastic Four
The next Batman

What I would love to see is them redo Venom to redeem the franchise, because that sucked. Although apparently a Venom movie is in pre production already.

Tobey Maguire was excellent in Brothers BTW. He's not a bad actor, just had a bad script.

Tobey was phenomonal in "Brothers" and he is a fantastic actor. He will be around a long time.

Spiderman II was a great movie and arguably the best Superhero movie ever made (I'll only entertain arguments supporting "The Dark Knight" as competition). But Spidey III was just meh. Hob Goblin should have killed MJ in III.

If they could come up with a good script, I'd be anxious to see a IV; especially with Scarlett Johansen added into the mix. Meantime I'm betting on Robert Downey, Jr and Jon Favreau to hit another Iron Man homerun.

I think his relative lack of charisma actually fit Peter Parker. I just think people get tired of the same retread sequels.

Iron Man was well done. Because of Downey it had a wider appeal and drew in people who weren't fans of comic book flicks.

Unless they totally reboot, The X-men franchise is played out. FF was a bit weak from movie #1.

I would like to see a Magneto movie only because his past is quite dark and he is an excellent character if written properly.

I'm looking forward to IM2 for sure - it looks fantastic.

Both him and the director are out. Actually they really have to abandon the whole Spiderman mythos as it's so far been known entirely to make it interesting and exciting.
