Spectrum Coconut Oil

says it's 100% refined coconut oil however it's marketed towards hair and skin care. Can I still eat it? Cook with it?

From the spectrum web page:

Spectrum actually sells three coconut oils. One is called Spectrum Essentials Organic Coconut Oil (comes in a 15oz plastic tub), and is labeled for skin and hair care. The other two are Spectrum Naturals Organic Refined coconut Oil and Spectrum Naturals Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil (they come in 14 oz glass jars), and are labeled as culinary oils. Our unrefined coconut oil has a distinct coconut flavor and aroma and the refined coconut oil has a neutral flavor for a greater variety of applications. All are edible -- including our 15oz, non-organic, Spectrum Essentials Organic Coconut oil labeled for hair and skin care.
We did a comparative analysis of several different coconut oils and found that the nutritional benefits (such as caprylic, capric and lauric acids) derived from the refined, unrefined and "virgin" coconut oils have little variance. The term "extra virgin" only applies to olive oil; at present, no authoritative US agency such as the FDA or USDA regulates the use or misuse of the term Extra Virgin.

The difference between the one I got 5.50 for 15oz. and the unrefined 63.00 for 14 oz. I'll take the cheap one all things considered.

Anybody know the best way to put this in a diet such as best time to eat it, alone or with a meal, maybe with a shake. Hmmmmm. Let us know, I've never used it before but I hear some good benefits, like 25% increase of metabolism.

I've tried both kinds - and while the unrefined is extremely expensive - I found it to be well worth the taste. You can add coconut oil to shakes - I like to mix mine with very little water so it has a pudding consistency (works well with chocolate - tastes like a choco-coconut pudding mmmmmm).

Or some people spread it on WW bread, or chunk it up into their salads. Just don't cook with it and you're golden.
