Spatts - Figure Comps

Hey Spatts! I shared the same frustration you're having about finding a type of physique competition that rewarded the type of physique I want to have. NPC's figure is too soft - after I saw the body type NPC was rewarding for figure, I knew I didn't want to do an NPC figure competition. They don't seem to want ab definition at all, based on the recent winners of the USAs. I honestly just don't want to look like this - I love weightlifting, and I want to be rewarded for having a developed physique. Besides, all they do are quarter turns - that's a little boring.

Then, I came across NABBA's figure. Here's a link to the website of Giovanna Rosa, the woman who's won several NABBA Universe Overall's:

I idolize this woman's physique - this is exactly how I want to look. Full, muscular, yet very feminine. You have to see her on video to get a feel for her degree of muscularity - plus, her presentation is beautiful. Watching her pose is like watching poetry in motion.

The problem is, you'll only see this degree of physique if you do WFF or NABBA figure in Europe. I keep hoping NPC will start rewarding a more developed physique and will add comparative dislpays and free posing to their figure; until then, I'm sticking with WFF and NABBA.

I was really looking forward to checking out her physique...especially if you idolize it! Unfortunately I get an error message when I click on the link...HTTP ERROR 404, Page Not Found :(

Any chance that you have pics you could post?

She has a very full upper body that's hard to see in the photos - it's definitely more noticeable on video, but you're right, I always thought her legs were a little smaller in proportion to her upper. I haven't come close to her arm size nor to her degree of leanness. She's my motivation though - all I have to do is check out her website and I get all fired up to keep working! If she can do it, I can do it...it just may take me a little while. :-)

I was hoping NPC's figure would be a cross between fitness and BB; the physique they've been promoting IMO is a downgrade. Might as well call it a bikini contest.

ive seen a few figure comps and some of the girls competing and doing well were soft. though, one show i saw, the girl that won the figure comp was also competing in the bb portion of the show and won both. she was very hard and lean, so there is a disparity in the judging still. it looks like, for the npc at least, they are still working out the kinks in what they want to see.

but dont get me wrong....they all looked good, just in different ways.

thats a safe answer.....heheheh.

Before you go knockin the figure I would wait and see how the girls come in at the PRO level...Ive competed in several shows and yes there are soft girls...and yes ive seen some win on occassions...but there are also harder/leaner girls that compete in figure..The criteria is up in the air at the moment..it is new...give it some time and see. I wouldnt throw out the idea of competing in it because you think u have to be soft and small..I think you will be a little surprised to see it is NOT like that at all.

I have witnessed the same here as far as competition. The last one that I went to there were several girls that crossed over from either lightweight BB to figure or fitness to figure. The figure comp. turned out to be what I would consider just a swimsuit comp. Neither of the girls who had what I would consider muscle definition won. I would prefer to see more of the fitness type build with at least some muscle defintion but without all the fitness moves and gymnastics for figure.

that is just my .02.

I've been hoping the PRO division would be leaner and more muscular - isn't it starting up with the Arnold Classic in February?
