I'm a female with a soccer and running background so I have always had strong legs. I notice though on legs days especially when I do a lot of squats and lunges I am sore the next day. Is this a problem with my workouts you think or is it me simply not getting enough protein? Or is it something entirely different.
 
Sometimes you will get sore and sometimes you won't. That is not indicative of a good or bad workout. All you want to do is make sure you are getting proper rest and taking days off the gym as needed.
