Some of the toughest things...

b fold the truth

Some of the toughest things that an athlete deals with is when he is just sitting around. When the TV is on, when people are all gathered for dinner, when you are out with friends at a bar, during work, in the middle of meetings, etc... And all you think about is your training.

HOW??!!

How am I going to add 5 lbs to the bar next time?
What the heck am I going to do if I can't?
But I HAVE TO!
Maybe if I...
What is everyone else doing?
Of course I want extra butter on my loaded baked potato.
I'll never be what I'm supposed to be unless I can...

Those 5 lbs keep me up at night. When I lay in bed with my wife next to me, dog at my side and son in the bed next to me as well. The lights off and everyone is asleep but me. I'm the only one thinking about that 5 lbs and how much it means to my life.

Those 5 lbs are the toughest part about being an athlete.

I agree, my girlfriend and my friends who workout but aren't as dedicated think i am crazy. I think about training 24/7 and it keeps me up at night. I toss and turn thinking about tomorrows workout. Im pretty sure i think about it more than anything else, and a lot of the decisions i make are affected by my training lol.

sometimes i think that if i had remote like in that movie that i would fast forward my life from workout to workout. i think about this when its like the middle of a super boring week.

anyone else?

I love bodybuilding and with all the respect to you, but you're taking this to a whole new level. Sure I enjoy adding the 5lbs to the bar, and when I can't I feel like I failed life, but to think about it every second of my life would be insane. I mean, i think thats a mental problem there, I'm not saying anything about you, its just when you take something that far, its not healthy.

I understand what you are saying, and agree.

But I do have a life. I'm a stay at home Dad in a foreign country that primarily does not speak English with very little help from anyone. My son is my life from the point that he wakes up till the point I put him to bed every night.

I also own two companies. One is a supplement company where I have my own brand of supplements and carry a full stock and coordinate with athletes all over the country to make sure that they get the help that they need. The other is based on Special Needs children, focused on Autism. We are one of the leaders in Europe in this field and THE LEADER in our country of Cyprus by far.

I also carry the roles of husband and coach to others, yet those are very distant on my priority list.

But the real athlete...always has his definition of success on his mind, near 24/7/365...no matter what their sport is. That is a true reality.
