Low levels of sodium in your diet will produce symptoms of fatigue, depression, low blood pressure, headaches, dehydration, dizziness, arthritis, kidney stones, seizures, and states of confusion.
High levels of sodium can cause edema (fluid retention), hypertension, stroke, dizziness, kidney damage, kidney stones, stomach problems, nausea, vomiting, and coma.
The thread you posted on SOUP ... most tinned soups are very high in sodium. In some cases, one tin will supply nearly your full recommended daily requirements of sodium. Whenever you see prepared meats or tins with meat in them, expect the sodium levels to be high as it is used as a preserving agent.
