I get lumps in my breasts from too much sodium. For obvious reasons, I try to keep my sodium low so my doctor and I can focus on any lumps that she and I need to be concerned about (fibroids run in my family). I've been lucky so far as to be the only one in my family that has to get them. But you never know.

Well, I don't add salt to much of my foods, as so many foods have added sodium, so I don't feel it's necessary. From what I understand, if you're drinking enough water, your body should be able to flush a lot of the sodium out of your body....

In a nutshell, when you have too much sodium in your body the blood becomes saltier causing water to be drawn from cells to dilute the blood. Our main concern with avoiding sodium is due to fluid retention. No one likes to look bloated.

There is actually an article about this is one of the fitness mags this month.. i should scan it.. about how we really should cut down on our sodium.. lots of useful information

I don't want to regegiate it back though for fear of quoting it wrong

thegame really hit is - it is basically for water retention. Soidum increase water i nthe body.

But like Jen said, if you drink enough water, it will be flushed out.

Obviously, if there are medical concerns (i.e., nycgirl) then sodium could be avoided. But for MOST people, sodium will make NO impact in their gains.

I am a SALT FIEND ... I love the stuff. But I rarely retain water due to it since my water intake is high. And I have never found it inhibited my gains in any way, shape, or form. :)
