I mean seriously what the fuck, aspirin has killed 1000 times more people than ephedrine, I can see the FDA now getting involved in every aspect of supplements

ang get this, yesterday I heard a paid radio commercial with Clyde "The Glide" Drexler stating thats extremely important to eat 9 servings of vegtbles and fruits a day, NINE? seriously, how many carbs would that be? just think if you ate 9 apples a day, youd be fat as hell, then at the end in speed soft talking it was like "paid for by some .... health commision"

but they do have ephidrine free products that work just as well.......my fucking ass it does

I think protein is VERY dangerous. I mean the streets are crawling with "bad guys" who deal protein powder to innocent children. Our country is problem-free other than this supplement nightmare. Just say no.

i'd say prohormones are next.

but hey, someone has to look out for the idiot that decides to pop 200mg of ephedrine on a hot, humid day before strenuous exercise.

not quite, it's all about personal responsibility. although that doesn't explain why alcohol and tobacco are legal since they are the biggest substance-related killers.

Next on the list:
spandex shorts
cut-off jeans combined with work boots
tub tops

yep, government at its finest.

Next on the hit list:

- french fries

- creatine (already banned in France)

- Maybe protein powder cause it helps people getting big and arresting big guys is harder

- Coke/Pepsi (cafeine)

Soon we'll go back in the Stone Age...

ephedra money supports terror.

I am wondering who really wanted ephedrine to be banned

Bush and his fellows ?

the drug companies (they'd rather sell their dieting pills)

The protestant church lobbies ?

I would have thought prohormones before ephedra, but I guess nobody has died from those yet. Wonder if I should start loading up on 1-test cyp? :)

You forget that those two have a big lobby. Pharmas also have a big lobby. Sports supplements (and common sense) doesn't.

Ephedra is already banned in Canada.

One of the reasons why its being banned is because the drug lobby has a drug that does roughly the same thing for the truely obese populace that ephedra does and they have a good lobby.

A bottle of Ephedra = $15.00
The other drug (forgot the name) = $150.00

Rather then competing (and spending more money to make their drug better), they simply lobbied the government to ban the other.

As you have said, if they truely cared they should ban tobacco, alcohol, red meat, fast food joints, loose women, etc.

Pro-regulatory statists, ignorance and the FDA are to blame for this ban.

Organizations which are "consumer watch groups" tend to be very pro-regulation for whatever issue they target. They froth at the mouth to have laws banning or regulating this and that. They hate the idea that you and I may choose something that they disagree with. They are a vocal group that is more of a threat to freedom than any terrorist group today. People take notice when a group tries to kill you, you and your neighbor will take up arms if necessary to protect life and property. People tend to be lulled to sleep by the promise of "public safety" or "protecting the innocent", and willingly bend over and spread em.

Ignorance of the masses makes it easy for the above crowd to accomplish their goals. The parents of people who have died from Ephedra, instead of accepting that their child died from misuse of a product or confounding factors, want someone to blame. They easily blind themselves to the reality that their child had pre-existing heart disease, took excessive amounts, or took other drugs together, in order to find the culprit of their childs death. Their constant pleas on TV to ban the drug that took their child from them is like gold to legislators who wish to control the industry.

The FDA wants to regain its lost powers. Prior to the DSHEA bill, the industry had to prove safety and efficacy before it could market a product. FDA regulations require many millions of dollars of testing to be done in order to accomplish this and few companies have this amount of money to invest in something that may fail FDA scrutiny. Thus prior to DSHEA, we had next to nothing in the supplement industry, some vitamin C (no greater than 500mg/tab), B Complex and ginseng.

The DSHEA bill made the FDA prove a danger before it could ban or regulate any natural product. This paved the way for numerous products which would never have been allowed before. Even with little regulation, the supplement industry still boasts a respectable safety record.

The FDA hates the DSHEA bill and wants it repealed. The consumer is to stupid to be allowed to purchase what he wants.
