EFTS is just re-branding shit, that vest is very uncomfortable. I've tried them at manufacturer/dealer shows. Never seen a XVest but by the specs I can tell it's gonna be better.
1 pound increments is much more desirable than 2.5
EFTS doesn't re-brand -- you can buy the same thing from the original suppliers. They just sell other brands.
Yeah, I'm leaning towards the X-Vest one. Looks better. I've had a cheap 40lb one for a long time, so I know fit's a huge thing for these.

Nah, prices have been consistant for years.
I've been wanting to get one for a long time, but it's hard to justify paying $400 for a vest.

The 40lb vest is $200. These are the nice brands, too... the 40lb vest I got from the mall years ago was only $100, but while suitable for some things, it's not something I would want to jog in.
Weighted vest's are pretty awesome. I use it for cardio and active recovery, and for hiking in the woods or just taking a walk around the neighborhood.

40's gonna be too light though and even $100 is rough right now when money being tight. I've been contemplating making my own out of scrap pieces of an old tarp, quick set concrete, and some heavy duty velcro. Just haven't done it yet b/c I know that if the fitment isn't just right, it's gonna be uncomfortable as fucking hell.
Trust me, depending on what you're doing, don't underestimate 40lbs. If you think you're going to hike 10km with an 84lb vest on, you're just wrong.
Be careful making your own, because most materials aren't meant to withstand these kind of weights.
I'd offer to send you my old one, but shipping for these weights are just ridiculous.
If you're under 150lbs BW, a 40lb vest will humble you quickly. (I'm 200 and it still does.)

Main reason I think it won't be enough is the intended application. I used to do a lot of depth jumping and I know even 20lbs can get heavy quickly. I've developed some arch problems now though and will be doing only very low impact treadmill/skiier work. I won't be able to move that center of gravity enough to get a lot of benefit from adding weight there, thus my need for unusually heavy weight.
