Smoking or beer which one do you consider worse for gains?

liqour is the way to go. way less calories. plus i like it better. now, as long as you aren't a pothead, i don't see weed being effectively detrimental to your workouts and goals. alcohol, on the other hand, can reek havoc on gains.
 
As far as alcohol goes, it dehydrates you. It makes you feel like shit the next day. I have heard your natural test levels drop for 3 days afterwards(after getting drunk I believe). A few every now and then prob isn't bad. Like arnold said "milk is for babys, men drink beer" lol.


As far as pot goes, I smoke weed and I workout extremely intensly. I have even gone to the gym high(don't make it a habit) and had great workouts. And as far as munchies, I don't get em. Not one bit. If anything it decreases my apetite.



Like stated above "moderation is key".
 
For me, it would be a question of liver or lungs. I choose not to drink or any form of recreational candy. Besides, when I'm on a cycle my liver is taxed in the first place. I certainly don't want to contribute to that stress with alcohol.
 
i would say beer is worse based on the alcohol and shitty carbs that bloat you and do other bad things.

nicotine has actually been linked to increased test levels. I don't have a link to the study. I read this on AST's website. Can't find where on the site it is either though.
 
I smoke weed everyday to help me sleep. I also run 5 times a week, lift 5 times a week, mountain bike as often as i can, play pickup basketball on weekends, work 40-50 hours, AND have time for the girlfriend.

Does this mean that weed has made me lazy? No. Does it help me sleep? Yes. Does it help me eat? Sure does.


I think weed will only make you lethargic if you let it.

depends how much you smoke. chronic pot smokers have occasionally gotten gyno. but that's only like if ya smoke multiple times a day for years.
 
I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that alchohol dehydrates the body. Since muscle tissue is mostly made up of water, it would stand to reason then that drinking is NOT good for BB'ers. But in general, drinking makes me feel like shit. Which is the antithesis of what BB'ing makes me feel like. So I have no time for drinking, personally.

I agree with some of the other posts on the smoking issue. While the psychoactive ingredient in the weed (THC) would not, in my opinion, be bad for BB'ers (I actually think it would be good because it has a relaxing effect on the CNS), the tar aspect would be bad but only if done in excess. Based on experience, I would say that once a day for someone who worked out all of the time wouldn't be bad at all.

I used to smoke everyday (also to help me fall asleep and man did it work great as I have the worst time falling asleep), but my source dried up and I'm not in any circles that would make getting more possible. Now I'd just look like a narc trying to buy some somewhere esle so I don't mess with it. lol :(

if you are gonna drink I'd suggest red wine..red wine has quite a few anti-oxidants in it that help to offset the other negative aspects of alcohol..red wine also has polyphenols too which have quite a few positive benefits..white wine doesn't,beer doesn't eithe,although dark beer has some good contents,but dark beer is also laden with calories..liguor is the worst,though if you drink straight liguor(not a calorie laden cordial,e.g. rumplemintz and/or jager)with water and/or a diet mixer,you can avoid the heavy calorie load..do understand that your body will burn the alcohol calories first while storing(fat) any other macronutrients you consume while drinking..obviuosly you want to drink in moderation too...and drunkeness has the worst effects on your system..basically the more alcohol you consume,the longer it takes your body to rid itself of the toxins and recover your test levels..btw,does anyone know that the estrogen made by consuming alcohol will siginficantly contribute to aromatization?..and also on this note is it possible to take an anit-e while going drinking to combat alcohols estrogen increase?
