What about Kava Kava?

The popular herbal remedy kava, commonly used to treat stress and anxiety, has been banned in the UK by the Medicines Control Agency (MCA) following concerns that it can lead to liver poisoning. The UK previously issued a voluntary ban of the herb earlier this year.

Other countries have also taken action over kava products. In the EU all licensed kava products have been removed from the market while in Canada, investigations have concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support the products' safety and they have also been withdrawn from the market. In Australia products have been voluntarily removed from the market while an investigation is conducted and in the USA consumers have been warned of the risk of liver toxicity pending the outcome of an investigation by the FDA.

Has anyone tried theanine?

Most OTC sleeping pills will not provide the body with the quality sleep it needs. The OTC's will make you feel tired, and allow you to fall asleep, but they keep you in stage one and two of the sleep cycle. You want to be in stage three and four, which is REM sleep.

I've been on a ZMA supp and some GABA for a week now and have had an amazing night's sleep every night! Not to mention some very lucid dreams.

i tried gaba, it made me relaxed, but didnt help me sleep. it also had the funny side effect of making my limbs tingle, and shortness of breath.

a 5-HTP and kava kava combo work great for me.

GABA isn't too effective cause it is not effective at crossing the blood-brain barrier

I use Melatonin to help me sleep but if I take it too late, I do feel like crap in the morning. I also have some pretty wild dreams when I take melatonin. I've tried 5-HTP and I didn't like it, it didn't work for me.
