Simple additions to tuna in a can

We all know tuna is a great protein source, but the taste is kinda...BLEH all by itself.

Just wondering what you folks like to add to plain tuna (aside from mayo + relish) to make it taste better.

Here's my secret recipe.

Buy some Cajun seasoning. Sprinkle a good amount on the tuna, then pour a bunch of hot sauce on top (the red stuff).

Mmm mmm good!

Try it!

Oh sounds HOT. I like to put a little fat free italian dressing in tuna.

Salsa is good........and I like mashed avocado too.....

And when you do use the mayo/relish thing - add a bit of rice vinegar -- YUM!

I've been having mine recently mixed with a cup of brown rice. I think they compliment each other quite well.

I've been making fried brown rice, by adding mushrooms, green onions and diced celery and frying it in a little olive oil spray, toss in a couple shopped cooked egg whites and low-sodium soy sauce. Add the tuna.

Defrosted frozen peas ... just run 'em under hot water in a collander.

add tomatoe, onion, cilantro, lemon or lime, and a little hot sauce if you want and i gaurantee this is the shit.

only problem with hot sauce is it has a lot of salt

I am a simple man...I just add a little lemon pepper, garlic salt, or hot sauce. That fried rice sounds good, just have this thing about not liking leftovers. Yes I cook all my meals EVERYDAY.

tried the cajun seasoning/hot sauce combo a couple times... not too bad. still not tuna's #1 fan though.

i went away for a while and i came back to see what was new and i see this thread
lol
jens and i have covered this subject at nauseum
do a search and you will find at least a hundred more variations on tuna:Chef:

i heard honey mustard is really good on it too thats what i plan on getting tomorrow at the grocery store.

it is..very good :d

has anyone ever mixed a can tuna with a can chicken and whatever their mix of choice is?

double whammy :D

I add some canned corn... I find it muffles the taste.
Does it really matter though? When I'm dieting for some freaking reason everything taste like chicken.. :p

The ideas already given that contain mixing with vegetables are probobly ideal, however, although it's has its faults I like dipping Sun Chips Harvest Ranch in the tuna, and making mini-sandwiches that way. They chips DO contain whole wheat. This tastes good.

have it with brown pasta and pesto, mix that stuff up good, olive oil and a touch of pepper, the tuna turns great and you barely realise your eating it the whole can goes down so quick in a bowl of pasta and pesto.

I use tuna flakes in brine, well drained, then stir fry it lightly with chopped onion and minced garlic and some olive oil to make a kind of hash that is really super, eaten with an egg omelet and brown rice. Good breakfast, or a meal at any time you are hungry for something good.

I also eat brine packed tuna right out of the can...but I guess I just may be a tuna lover or something!
