I was watching Episode III last night (best one of all them, episode V was the second best) and started seeing some pretty interesting parallels between the first three episodes and our current sitting president and gov't.
First, is it interesting that the final three installments started to come out at the same time Bush was elected?
Second, notice how a false war was started, by the Sith Lord in order to secure his power?
1. Attack on Trade Centers
2. Afghanistan
3. Iraq
4. and other countries in the works
Notice how the Chancellor (aka sith lord) kept convincing the Senate to grant him ever increasing "emergency" powers to end the war and bring peace to the galaxy?
1. Patriot Act
2. Warrantless Wire taps
3. Continued occupation of foreign lands
4. Holding of Prisoners without being charged
5. Formation of the Office of Homeland Security (anti Jedi dudes)
6. ...and even more that I am not aware of I am sure
Notice that by the time the Chancellor has been discovered, he has already become too strong to unseat. He convinces Anakin to save his life, and kill every living soul that has a connection to the Jedi and then kill off the very people he conspired with to start the fake war in order to gain control. In the end he becomes the supreme ruler of the New Galactic Empire.
My only question is who is the real life counterpart to Anakin Skywalker? It can't be Dick Cheney or Condoleeza Rice, So, who would be this person?
I think 'ol Lucas had more on his mind than finishing his story from 20 years ago!
