Shoulder Rehab...need input

It has been approximately 9 weeks since I have had my AC Joint surgery. I had an impingement caused from arthritis that was causing allot of pain and popping in my left shoulder. During the procedure they removed some bone to clean up the joint.

Well 9 weeks later, I tried to do my first batch of chest excercises. After last night, I am almost wishing I didn't have the surgergy....it seems as if the pressing excercise hurt more now then before....is it possible I'm still not totally healed? I also still have some popping going on in there and the pain shoots down to my elbow.

Has anyone had this procedure and provide me with some suggestions, input, or their experience with it?

Thanks!

Arthritis often times occures in these situations due to joint laxity. In other words the tendons/ligiments stabalizing the joint get stretched, often times due to an injury. If they do not heal, or are not allowed to properly heal because you ise the area or use anti-inflamatories which reduce inflamation and hence greatly reduce healing, then over time the body will build up more bone tissue in the joint to take up the slack. Now, if your doc cut you open and removed bone, guess what? Your joint is now sloppy again which is going to lead to more pain and tendon/ligament inflamation and the viscious cycle starts all over again. To truely fix the problem you need to get the shoulder back into proper alignment and this can only be done by getting the tendons/ligaments pulled tight so the shoulder sits properly where it is supposed to.

I highly recommend you head over to www.prolonews.com and do some reading, they have a link to a list of docs there as well, see if you can find one in your area and at least give him a call or go in for a consultation.

BFolds D Cleans are very similar to what I do, but I use a bar bell... with a slight modification... I get ZERO shoulder pain in my joint...

Speaking of shoulder injuries, I have had my bone ripped out of my socket... and put back in... and then injured again on a bad dislocation... So I'm pretty familiar with the injuries.

The D Cleans/Bar Cleans are pretty good, because they allow you to work your shoulder without putting alot of stress on the joint itself... by adding in the PL Style of bench press, I have further reduced stress on my shoulder...

With all the reduced stress, I have been able to work the rehab exercises more efficiently... I mean, My shoulder isn't getting broken down 2x a week now... so the rehab is more effective.

Hope that advice helps you out... I really didn't give you any ADVICE, but more just what I've done with my injury.

If you do have scar tissue, then ART would efinately be of some benefit. You may also want to look into some upper body dragging techniques to help w/ that shoulder.
