Shoulder Pain

A few weeks after my last Sust cycle I developed a pain in my right shoulder. I'm not sure what caused it since I had been taken it easy on everything coming off of my cycle. It hurts on any pressing movements, bench, incline, military press, dumbell press. But I can do lateral raises and stuff like that with no problem at all. It's been hurting for about four weeks now. I've been working it with light dumbell presses. Should I not work it at all for a while? Anyone else ever have a problem similar to this. I did experience a strained rotator cuff in my other shoulder but the pain was completely different.

I developed shoulder pain once, was a sharp stabbing pain I got primarily if i was trying to squeez something held out at arms reach between my two hands. It also effected my presses however. It did not seem like a rotator cuff injury so I pretty much worked through the pain. One day playing some volly ball it suddonly dissappeared. I am assuming it was some sort of pinched nerve.

Do you work your rotator regularly? That could be your problem.

Yeah, I try and do some rotator cuff work a couple times a week after I injured one of mine about a year ago. I'm trying to figure out how long I should go before seeking medical attention. I'm kind of reluctant cause usually they don't even know exactly what is wrong and just say to lay off of it for a couple months.

I had a rotator cuff injury with pain similar to what you describe, I just stopped all pressing movements and worked my cuffs for a couple weeks, the pain finally went away.

You need to get it checked out, it could be a million things, but for now lay off of it for at least 2 weeks.

I have had the same problem for the past two years, and currently recovering from a re-injury of about 6 weeks ago. No matter what the source of the pain, rest will help and have an MD exam it, specifically an orthopedic surgeon. :(

its probaly a rotaor problem

Hey bro,I had the same thing after an omnadren cycle I wasn't warming up correctly and I ignored my bodies warnings now 6 months later after physical therapy and rest I am starting to bench again,be careful if you can see a sports med Doctor or orthopedic Doc,be careful, if you deal with it now maybe you can avoid the same trouble that I got into. Peace Chino

Thanks for the input. I do always warm up thoroughly starting with two sets with just the bar. That's one of the things that has me freaked out about this. The first time I messed up my rotator cuff I did see a doctor about it, they didn't do any scans or anything. They just made me do a bunch of different exercises and made a conclusion based on my range of motion and which types of movements caused pain. He recommended a rehab program and I could really feel it hitting the problem area. After four weeks I was as good as new. This injury is different, I still do my rotator cuff workout and it doesn't hurt at all. This pain isn't intense or anything, but it worries me because it's been several weeks and hasn't gone away. Which has got me paranoid since I've been through a shoulder injury already. I'm thinking I'll eliminate all pressing movements from my routine but continue working my rotator cuff. If it doesn't go away in the next few weeks I'll have to do something about it. What type of scan can be done on the shoulder? MRI perhaps?

that is so weird that you said that about your shoulder....

i just got back from a run and i came in complaining about my shoulder hurting too... mysteriously....

i just started a SUS-EQ cycle yesterday and i didnt think it could be related, but it may just be. how weird!

I have a bad shouolder also. Every couple of months it gets aggrevated when I am doing heavy bench. I always do rotator work with shoulders but the injury always reoccurs. My advice is to move to dumbells, for some reason I have never aggrevated the injury when using dumbells it is bench that gets it....Just what works for me, I often carry a bottle of flexall around for a week or so after I aggrevate my shoulder.

Shoulder problem...I injured it this past Christmas...took 3 weeks off from training it and came back and trained shoulders light...after months of only small pain it went away and have been training it heavy for months...Yesterday after my shoulder workout...Top of side delt was INVOLUNTARY spasming...and twitching...(i'm gonna get it checked out)...what do u guys think?

take some time off (2-3 weeks) and then go back to the gym, see how it is. if it hurts to do a warm up set, then don't do that exercise. it's a real pain in the ass i know, but if you want it to heal properly, don't fuck around with it bro!

The only other thing I can think of is that I have read that sometimes while on test you can sustain an injury and not feel it. Then when you go off of it and some water comes out of your muscles it can flair up. This ache came a few weeks after a Sust cycle. The funny thing is that during my cycle I was doing slow controlled sets of 8 with 405. After the cycle I didn't want to risk hurting anything so I kept my weight in the 315 range and did long warm ups. I wouldn't be as freaked out if I did something stupid like doing 20 reps with 315 the moment I walked into the gym. I have heard from some other people that dumbells are easier on the shoulders. I'll likely try that after I lay off my shoulders completely for a while.
