I have been saying forever that site injections can't truly work.
I think Andy 13 has it right about the selling, but the swelling may actually be what causes the growth - only indirectly.
Let me explain. I have a feeling that a bicep injection, for instance, will result in the swelling of the muscle tissue. This increase in the volume of the muscle(due to swelling) stetches the fascia surrouning the muscle. With the fascia stretched to allow the additional voulme, the bicep now has the room to grow within the fascia(if you accept that fascial tissues are a limiting factor in muscle growth)
