Shipping costs!!!!

The cost to send something is outrageous!!

I went to ship something this morning and they weighed it, came out to 3.01 pounds, so they charged for 4 pounds.

The cost for 2nd day air was $19.95, but no guarantee that it will be there by Christmas. For it to be guaranteed to be there by Christmas was $93.00. What were they going to do, buy it it's own airplane seat?

This is what kills me about the deals you get on the net, the shipping costs eat up any discount...

The thing is that they prey on priority...usually regular shipping gets there almost as fast.

Shipping rates have gotten out of hand! I try hard as hell not to send anything except letters and payments but will use the internet to pay bills when possible!

On top of that I believe FedEx is raising its rates again come the new year. It really kills businesses because they have to shift the burden over to the customer.

That's why I never order shit that is time-sensitive. The shipping cost is ridiculous. I always take the cheapest shipping option or the 3/2 day if it's no more than 2 or 3 bucks more. Amazon.com is the best with its free shipping shit, even though it takes a week or two to get the goods.

USPS Priority Mail rates are not much more than regular mail rates for packages and stuff is almost delivered in 2 days. USPS overnight will actually deliver items on a Sunday if you mail on Saturday. Not bad!

Big, did you use UPS? UPS charges by distance as well as weight, USPS goes by weight. Fed Ex is expensive, but the most reliable.

It was by UPS. I don't mind the 19.95, it was the 93.00 for it to be guaranteed that got me.

They told me that it should be there by Tuesday, just no guarantee.

If you really went UPS 2day air then they lied to you. It is a gauranteed service with your money back if it does not arrive in two days.

UPS air parcels and 3 day select are rated by the zone,weight, and size of the parcel.

Fed-Ex is no more reliable than UPS. They are both very good services.

I may be wrong but I believe only Next day air is gauranteed this close to Christmas with UPS.

Most people make the mistake of going to a shipping outlet such as Mail Boxes ETC. or Pack and Ship---these places jack up the prices a lot! I shipped a parcel the other day that would have cost me $5.50 to ship from the local UPS customer counter---I paid $9.50 plus $3.95 for bubble wrap at the pack and ship outlet.

Incedently---When I was at the Pack and Ship, I noticed that they had about 250 parcels for UPS and about 30 for FedEx.
