Do you think using your sex appeal (flirting skills, good looks etc) to advance at your job is wrong?
I don't mean with your boss or any management, but let's say you're a sales rep or like me, a buyer, and you flirt to get better pricing or get the sale.
Is that wrong?

In my psych class we learned that good looking people are seen as leaders,charsmatic,succesful basically alpha's of the group... where as ugly people are the lower of the too.. we read a study about a two girls in the same position one uber sexy and one just meh.. the meh girl new more about the product but her weekly sales were acutally lower in the long run

so in conlusion i will insert a witty refernce from the T-mobile commerical

I dont agree with do ANYTHING you can do to get to the top; because you dont want to sacrifice your character ; BUT ; within reason I dont see why you cant flirt a little ya know???
 
Then once you get the company I can come in for an interview and do the same thing.
Then we can have crazy, rich person, circus sex on your desk all day!

Nothing just taking it easy and recovering from Montreal still...
I am playing golf next Thursday and Friday. Big dinner on Friday night and then Saturday is the big day. We have 171 coming. We had to cut the list so much. We started with almost 400 people. So happy with this number. Fucking expensive!!!

nope. . .i do a lot of forensic accounting and litigation support work that regularly lands me in the witness chair. . .i take real good care of myself and consequently i look pretty damn good most of the time. . .especially when you stuff me in a suit. . .everytime i'm up against a female (no pun intended) attorney or getting grilled by a female family law master (two of the three in the area are women) i absolutley use my sex appeal and charm (as well as my brain) to make my life in the witness chair easier. . .being "nice" has never failed me and has gotten me a lot of repeat business and referrals. . .
 
I use it at work all the time. Have to sometimes to close a deal. I have a girl I bring who works with me to some meetings for that reason. She is AMAZING looking. Some guys love having her sit with us over dinner. Some women love to be alone with me at dinner. You have to read people and see what will work. All part of the game!

I charm potential clients. Wouldn't go so far as to say I flirt with them, but I know how to work a group of people. I feel no shame in it.

Interesting. This also works for men.
I've had very good looking sales reps in to see me and I can tell they try to use their "charm" to sway me. It worked once
My boyfriend is a sales rep and though he denies it, he uses his good looks to get the woman buyers to buy from him.
But I must admit, I will have drinks or dinner with suppliers and schmooze them a little in order to get better pricing

it's part of sales.......the best account executives in my business are attractive women w/ brains. they know how to push the issue and close the deal and the men (just because they're programmed that way) love doing business with them.
I also have a friend i used to work with (gorgeous girl...with a mouth.she was an absolute shark on the phones) and she put all the guys production numbers to shame. she was just as aggressive as the guys but the male clients would back down from her. she made some sick money...

come to think of it, most of my clients ARE/WERE women in their 30-40's or older women. they love me and i am flirty with all of them.....
 
I say do it, I do. Im a pretty good looking guy with a nice smile(everyone tells me that) so I use that to my advantage. I flirt, ALOT. Most of my clients are in their late 30's early 40's, Im 29(fuggin cougars), so I flirt with them and at the same time take care of buisness, they keep coming back, plus they give me many referals. Life is good.
 
Most of my customers are hourly worker bee females and yes, I do use my "appeal" to smooth over issues.

us old sex-kittens are pretty powerful :-)

I just sometimes feel a little guilty "luring" these suppliers in. Some I truly like (as friends) but others creep me out.
I had two suppliers take it too far, but most really have no clue I am "playing " them.

you have to find that line............you can be friendly/flirty but still be business oreinted. it's when it crosses that line, you avert the situation back to business. you can control the interaction if they cross that line, you just casually bring it back to something business related as if nothing occured and close the deal. it's a subtle way to tell them "this is why we're here...."

Oh, I am very professional and never crossed the line. But some men will be pigs and weird so they just don't know when to draw their line.
I had one guy (this guys is seriously one of the richest and respected bizman in Michigan) and after diner one night he grabbed my ass. I ended the night right there and NO JOKE, I ended the professional relationship as well. His company lost a 400,000 contract.
And I never EVER flirted with him. He is 73 yrs old...yuck!

People flirt all the time . . college, work, concerts, partys, ect. ect.

As long as your not dating or married to anyone i don't see a problem.

If you are with someone tho, that would be fucked up.

I'm not talking about college or parties. I am talking about grown up stuff like biz ;-)
It's biz, there is no cheating involved.......It just a matter of smiling a certain way, or going out with suppliers for drinks and getting more personal with them, to get more biz or better pricing.
