Senior cycle: Can you gain at older age?

Senior cycle? Sounds like a dog food blend. LOL

We've had some discussion about HRT and Cycles ... which is which. And some speculation about the muscle building effects of a typical cycle on an older man who already is following a healthy diet, exercise routine, and recovery.

Men over 40, but less than 50 have reported great gains that brought them satisfaction.

So ... What about pushing the limits and seeing what happens over 60?

I did my research, asked the top people here and selected:
Test c
Nand
dbol
HGH
amiridex

My aas grand mg total will be 400 - 600 p/w over 10 weeks. I want the lowest dosage, lowest sides, with most reasonable gain. 10-15 pounds with accompanying strength and size gains sounds right to me. That will put me at 225, 6 ft tall.

I'm also taking whey protein, creatine and "VIBE", which is a multipul vit/min drink. I'm not loading up though. I want to see the effects of the cycle, not added otc foods. I'm adding fluids to combat cramps. My 5 protein/slow carb meals will stay the same except for the addition of 8 oz tuna at lunch.

I'll keep my push/legs&abs/pull/rest routine. A nap of 30 minutes will be added to the 7-8 hours sleep I normally get.

Started Monday 7/10/2006. Might be placebo effect, but my spirits are higher, I've made some gains with the wo, gained 3 pounds (maybe water ... but so what if it makes my joints less painful?), and gotten a few double looks from the public as I was shopping. Probably not used to seeing people my age without a walker and an oxy tank. :)

LMAO that comment freakin' cracks me up! Kudos to you for making people say "WTF?!?!".

I'm going to watch this thread closely....keep us posted!

Finished my first week and have to say, this is pleasant. Two shots in the glutes a week and a few pills every day with my vits. I had to add some more water to the Vibe because it is concentrated and hurt my guts.

Workout strength is up along with either the weights or reps going up too. I'm being very conservative so I don't rip something.

Body weight is up 5 pounds. Probably water, but it sure feels good. Lots of aches and pains gone.

No sides to mention. No cramps.

Sleep is a solid 8 hours. Even taking a little pm nap. Recovery is a must. I can force myself through a workout with missed sleep, but it is counterproductive.

I'll push the dosage up a bit soon ... maybe another 100mg total p/w.

Very interested in this for my future. Also, very smart of yourself by going lighter on the dosages. I can grow off 250 per week of Test at 29yo 200lbs so I see no need to bump up another 100mgs.
 
Second week behind me and body weight is up a total of 9.5 pounds. I'm slightly larger in chest, arms, quads and calves. Waist is the same. If this is all bloat, it is evenly distributed.

Weights in all lifts have continued to climb or reps have gone up, but I can see that I'm going to hit some plateaus soon. When that happens, I'll just stay at that weight and go for more reps. Once I can do 12 reps, I'll just hold it there until it is easy.

Old aches and pains are gone ... sleep is good ... no deca-dick problems. I do feel "hot" a lot and perspire more. No cramps as long as fluids are high. One banana a day added to the diet.

I really crave fast sugars, especially chocolate, cakes and pies. I could binge on this stuff if I let my guard down.

Raised dosages a small amount. 225 for test, 125 for nand and 140 for dbol ... weekly total of 490 ... up from 405. I actually look forward to injection day.

It is said that test and nand kicks in the third week. Perhaps my gains have been all dbol. Next two weeks should be interesting then.
 
Good luck to you. Get big before age steals all your lean muscle.

Eat eat and eat some more. Get as huge as possible off this cycle can't understand why you would limit your growth by limiting your food intake.

Same reason I didn't change my workouts. I wanted to keep some constants in the experiment. I wanted to see what the aas does.

I eat a lot ... no problem there.

Great stuff Lion, I'll watch this very closely. May I make a suggestion though? Get a glucose monitor and monitor your blood sugar levels whilst on HGH. HGH may have been a factor in making me glucose intolerant or insulin resistant. Whilst on HGH I would try an avoid ALL high and most medium GI carbs just to be safe. There are many great articles on insulin and diabetes so you don't need me to go into this but please, better safe than sorry.

I've wrapped up my third week and am into the fourth. My reaction to the injections and the oral is very predictable now. I'm over being unsettled and impatient as in the first two weeks.

I get tired for about 12 hours after the injections and then that feeling lifts. I feel just "normal" after that. I don't get the sensation of having a fever anymore. (Didn't have a temperature rise .. just felt on fire once in a while.)

Only other side is oily skin, especially scalp. I get greasy after as little as 12 hours. And got a few more white heads. Odd at my age. LOL

No sexual problems beside sore dick. I am really a dirty old man.

Body weight has only gone up one pound. I'm past that initial blast. 11.0 pounds total.

I can still add more weight or reps to my lifts, but that is slowing down too. I'm not complaining about this new higher groove I'm in now. All compound lifts went up 25-30 pounds and all db's went up at least 10 lbs. But I can tell it is going to get tougher now.

If I plateau on a lift, I'll just purify the form to get everything out of it I can.

I'll raise the dbol to 30mg p/d begining Sunday. I want to see if I can feel the additional 70 mg.

I have Dr appointment on Monday 8/7 to review blood testing results. Blood sample was taken when I was just doing HRT, not this cycle. I won't have another blood testing until I am off this cycle and have been on HRT for 60 days.
 
Keep up the good work will continue to monitor this thread. I'm getting ready to do one....finally recovered from last crash. This thread makes me wanna go on now but i'm gonna wait 3 more weeks. Flushing everything out.
 
To be honest with you lion the Test should really start to kick in about now so dont be surpreised if things pic back up this week and next. That intial weight gain was probably water from the D-bol.
 
Another week down and weight is up 1/2 more pound. I think I've plateaued and that is fine. 11.5 total. Size increase is all over, even calves.

I've made one big mistake and now I'm paying. I was so happy with the increased strength, I went 12 straight workout days with no rest days. (Entire body twice.) And each day I was able to increase the load.

Sure enough ... my shoulder joints now ache a lot. Good ol' rotary cuff inflamation. I had never done front standing presses and included them in this routine. I climbed from 8 at 70 to 4 at 175 over the last four weeks. The main pain is right where the push comes from in the joint behind the delts. DAMN!

I have to have some sun spot surgery this Friday, so I'm using this and the pain as an excuse to take at least 4 days off. Then I'll come back slow with perfect form. I'm very hopeful that I'll actually profit from this size wise. As pointed out above, now is when I should be feeling the test.

Should be interesting to see if aas, hgh and rest speed healing. Logic says Yes.

I reviewed blood test results with Dr. All was fine. However, forgot PSA so got boxed in for a PSA test. He sees that I'm doing something and is trying to protect my health. I just don't want him the "fire" me for going beyond HRT. If that f*cking number comes in high, I'm busted. Deal with it when it happens. I'm having no problems in that area ... In fact the natural functions have been better on this cycle than HRT.

And my feet are better. Less pain and very healthy color. (Have history of pain problems there.)

I'm getting the sweat flashes again. I boosted the dbol up to 30mg p/d from 20. I get the hots about 15 minutes after I take them.

The injection of test/npp and hgh makes me sit down for about 30 minutes afterwards. I just get extremely tired suddenly. Then it passes.

Only other sides are (1) 1 or 2 zits on my head. Little whiteheads. Must be oil glands plugged up. Easy to deal with. (2) Higher bp. I was steady under 120/70. Now it is steady 140/80 (3) Little lower HDLs and total cholesterol. Obviosly these will all go away after I stop and a few weeks pass.

The LSP products are still excellent. Using a 25g in the glutes. Smooth. No pain. The naps are like candy.

Now for some r&r. Back at it Sat or Sunday.
 
Fifth week.

The injury in the right shoulder area has healed to the point where there is no pain. I've added rotary cuff warm-ups before any shoulder or bench pressing days. I dropped the weights and will run them up again over the next 2 weeks.

The "sun spot" surgery did not take any time away from training, but I'm sure it had an impact on the recovery system. I have simply devoted more time to resting. I'm healing up nicely. The two black eyes were a surprise. Funny to see people's reaction. Stitches out on the 21st.

All the other weights went up, but just a little ... 5 lbs or 1 rep. I'm not making any huge gains like before. I'm not complaining at all.

Body weight dropped 2 pounds. Don't know why, but obviously the injury and operation had an effect. Maybe it was lost fluids. I did up the dbol to 30 mg p/d and noticed no significant changes except for low level headaches now and then.

In conclusion, it seems I've plateaued and have 3 weeks to go. I've gained some solid pounds and am defineately stronger. I'll just keep banging away and see if a second surge comes through.
 
Another week has gone by. Still at 250 mg test c and 250mg npp p/w, 50 mg dbol p/d, i.25 iu HGH eod and 0.5 a-dex MWF.

- Strength has continued to improve, but gains are really tough now ... maybe 1 rep or 5 lbs.
- Body weight went down to 210 and then climbed back up to 212. Fluids, I bet.
- Sex life is great. Details are disgusting.
- I am tired! Pushing and pulling all this new weight drains me. I'd like to sleep 12 hours a day. However ... no matter how I feel, I can always do more. It is like being possessed.
- I am leaner. My waist is down.
- BP is up, but I don't feel the flashes as much.
- Appetite is lousey. I eat 5 times a day, but I bet I could easily get it down to 2-3. I have no binge desires anymore and just fill up on protein, slow carbs, one helping fruit and lots of fluids.
- I almost had one of those dam hammy cramps again and caught it fast. Drank 12 oz of water and relaxed ... it went away. Those episodes are vicious.

One more week and then I'm going back on HRT. That will make life very simple again.

And I do have my stuff set up for Fall. :)
 
Took my last injection. With the half life, I'm good for at least another week of effect. Stopping the dbol Sunday. I'll return to good ol' HRT beginning Monday.

I'm back up to 212 with the impact of that dam operation behind me. I did not miss one workout, meal or aas. And I'm healing up nicely.

My strength continues to improve with an extra rep or another 5 lbs. I don't even think about it ... I just expect it and BANG, there it is. I'll miss that.

The individual weights have moved up nicely. My old max's are now in the 75% of max group as I move up and down. Certain db movements, which were stuck before, moved up 10-15 pounds. I was forced to change some movements from both arms to one arm ...same with legs .... because I have no one to hold me down or it is too ackward. Leg extensions, leg presses, and tricep pushdowns for example.

Most of the sides went away. My PSA went way up (scared the hell out of me) and then after 3 weeks came way down. I still don't like messing with the prostate.

BP came down ... no dick problems ... even the flashes and oily skin adjusted.

I may be jumping my conclusions, but I'd say that a Senior can certainly gain a lot of muscle and strength from this cycle.

Back into normal HRT, low dosage topical compounded bio-identical test and HGH.

Only now can I appreciate the spikes, and highs and lows of a cycle. It is really an artifical universe that a person can live in. When I stopped taking the cycle level aas, the body just turned off the strength and let go water.

I didn't lose all the size or body weight. It looks like I'll keep one-half the gains I made and that means a new and higher set point. This is good. I'm a larger man now.

What seems to have gone away quickly is the ongoing strength gains. And I had really gotten use to that.

What bothered me the most during the cycle was the outrageously poor blood test numbers. The Drs saw me approaching cancer and death's door. My PSA, cholesterol and blood pressure went way out of range.

And like a switch was turned, they are all returning to the better than normal levels I had before. That PSA jump was really scarey!

All in all .... It was worth it! Us old farts can grow muscle, size and strength in a cycle!

I'm taking September off and just doing HRT.

No pct ... That smacks of just another cycle to me.
 
my first lifting mentor was like 63 and could BP 365 cold and do rock bottom SQ's with the same. i believe strength will always be available to those who want it.
