Seat Belt Ticket

Lucky

New member
Got a ticket for not having my seat belt on. The guy was not too friendly so I guess he must have been missing the family bar-b-Q. I was just wondering for those that live in California, does a seat belt offense count as a point and goes to your insurance company? I really don't want to go to traffic school to get the points erase off my record.

Anyone still riding around in a car without a seat belt on should just be shot on the spot.

IMO of course.

I was just going down the block to the corner store and back at 30 mph. I always use my seat belt when commuting more then 1/2 mile. And please Y....don't say you always put yours on when just making a short trip.

I wouldn't go that far. If you don't want to wear it, don't. But don't expect sympathy from me when you're 40 feet in front of your car with a trial of glass behind you.

that sucks.. cop has to be a dick to pull you for a seatbelt violation..

I'd like to challenge the constitutionallity of seat belt laws.

In Texas they've been cracking down on it quite hard. No matter what, I always wear my seatbetl. It's a bitch in that I'm always worried about getting out of my car looking like a slob...but I wear it no matter what.

I do! Most accidents are close to ones home! You don't Drink and Drive when just going around the corner to do you?

Did you hear about the polock who heard most accidents happen close to home? He moved...

Most accidents are close to home, because most people do 95% of their driving near home... LOL

Yes, Seriously I don't leave the drive way without it buckled.
Call me an old poop, but it's true.

My kid freaks out if we accidently pull out before she gets hers locked....

Are you serious? I mean it should be a choice don't you think? I mean I wear mine but I used not to.

I dont feel comfortable driving without a seatbelt.. I like feeling strapped in.

But I don't agree with the seatbelt laws. I think it is a right or freedom to choose whether to wear a seatbelt or not..

I had a college history professor who was a navy seal in vietnam.. He's got shrapnell stuck in his gut and will never have solid stool again in his life due to his time in Vietnam. He will never wear his seatbelt. He feels it is his freedom to wear or not wear a seatbelt. On numerous occasions he told us that cops will let him off when he explains himself.

We had an entire lecture hour devoted to this.. not quite related to history but definitely interesting.

Seat belt laws, helmet laws should all go away. As far as I am concerned it is natural selection. If you are silly enough not to wear one, and trust the rest of the driving population that much, maybe it would not be such a bad thing for you to go flying through the windshield.

We tax payers have to pick up the mess that your "Types" leave behind! If you don't want to wear a Helmet or Seatbelt in your own home that is fine by me!

You worried about your taxes paying for those injuries. Sheeesh man, that ain't squat you should worry about how the politicians and govt waste your tax money. That is where the big bucks are wasted.

I would agree with govmt safety type laws going away only if you were excluded from filing a lawsuit if you did not wear one in an accident, regardless of fault.

Settle down ther fella, I wear my seatbelt. I was just saying that those who do not wear them are silly, but government is not here to hold our hand and make sure we do not hurt ourselves. If we follow your logic to its extreme then any behavior that I might follow which could lead to serious injury should be banned because I may not have health insurance and I may hurt myself costing tax payers money. So, no mowing grass without saftey googles because I might put my eye out, and no biking without a helmet, no riding motorcycles with shorts on, no diving in my backyard pool because I might break my neck, no skydiving, no skateboarding or surfing becuase I *might* break my neck. The last thing I need is government holding my hand, passing laws to make sure we all live safe happy lives. I can do that on my own

BINGO!

Your above examples are of 2 types of activities..

Private Property Activities / Injuries
Public Property Activities / Injuries

The insurance industry regulated and causes change of habit in private property such as saying if you want to have a diving board on you pool, good luck getting insurance.
Wanna skydive regularly, good luck getting life insurance.
No laws usually are created controlling this space, society and Insurance companies just make it difficult for their benefit.

But in the public spaces such as roads, parks etc, the goverment
can place restrictions as to what you can do for the good of the many. You can choose to follow these laws or not and if not you can pay the penalty of a fine or what ever you elected representatives have setup.

I am not an advocate of big goverment, but it has it's place in Society. You are driving biking on a Public owned and maintained road. Not your private driveway.

An example of how it should be is the recent repeal of the Mandatory Helmet law on motorcycles here in Florida.
In order to ride this way you must be over 18 and have more than a certain amount of Insurance coverage.

Exactly that is how it is in texas too. So why not make it that you don't have to being wearing a seatbelt if you have a seatbelt exemption sticker on your car.

I guess you don't have insurance! I will not ammune Sheeple from there ills, just like politicians!

Again if you want to put up a couple of Million of dollars for your medical bills etc, then i would not have any problem with you going around without a seatbelt or a helmet! Freedom has a price! If you can pay up then you can be Free as a bird!
