Scrupples(sp) Question You Accidently Shoot a Cow When Deer Hunting What do you Do?

I was buzzing pretty good this weekend when I went deer hunting. And a weird thought came over me while I had a cow in my sites. Sure I had it on safety while I was pretending I was going to shoot a cow but then all of sudden BAM the gun goes off, the cow grunts, and then lays down.

SHIT!!!

What do you do?

Do you gut the cow then load'em up and have steak for a while and not tell the land owner or would you go tell the land owner immediately about the accident.

What I decided I would do is to send the land owner the market value for the cow and keep the cow but not tell him who I was. Because it could be his "favorite" cow or something and the next thing you know you would being paying 10,000 for a stupid cow.

Oh and don't say you never sight in a cow when you are bored deer hunting everybody does you will just be lying if you do.

Hell, in Texas(where I am from) I think they can steal hang you for cattle rustling.

if he had veyr few cows this one could have meant alot to him (pet, lol)
but if like most ranchers he has over 200+ then paying market value or a bit more to be generous for your fuck up would be a nice gesture
it would piss me off to find a dead cow shot by someone hunting on MY land

Hey I didn't say I shot it it was just a weird thought. Also it wasn't my land it was a friend of mine's lease.

Tell the landowner and pray to god he doesn't press charges...Who ever has the lease would probably loose it and all the deposits with it
