Running for cardio-good or bad??

growing

New member
They always say bodybuilders shouldn't run because running is too "catabolic" but for me it helps me get and stay cut-up.

I only run 2-3 times a week for no more than 30mins in the morning on an empty stomach.

Am I putting my mass gains in jeopardy?

Is there a better way that I just dont know about to burn body fat?

All answers welcome--what do you bros do to keep the fat off?

It has to do with your intensity. For fat burning you want to jog, not run. If you get your heart rate too high, thats when it turns catabolic because you are using energy faster that it can be retrieved from fat stores.

right after my workout I walk and I watch my heart rate. it's obviously different for everyone--- depending on one's age. The treadmill should have a chart of the diff heart rates.
I do cardio one or maybe twice a week. the rest of the time I walk!!! I used to jog but that just added stress on your knees and joints. between doing squats and practicing jujitsu it's just too much...

this has to do with the whole "train long at low intensity" vs "train hard for shorter periods". I just mix it up. this debate can go on forever really. not really sure:confused:

if you do alot of lifting and keeping muscle is your goal, it's not the best thing to run. You may get lucky however, and not lose much muscle with LIMITED cardio
