Running and cellulite

So, I'm now training for my first 15K (10 Mile) race which is going to be April 2. I've been training for about 2 weeks now, running between 1 and 3 miles 5 days a week. My mileage ups a little at at a time, so eventually, I'll be up to 8 miles right before race day. I can totally see a difference already which is great BUT, I don't know if it's just me, but my cellulite :worried: appears to be more noticeable than ever before!

I did my measurements recently, and I'm pretty sure I've lost fat due to a decrease in my measurements. Of course, I've always had some cellulite that I've been battling to get rid of, but it was mainly on the back of my legs. Now, it looks like there's cellulite on my quads. What's the deal?

Does this have anything to do with running?

If you've just started increasing your running significantly, chances are its just your bodyfat & water dropping some & your skin maybe hasn't caught up yet. But also keep in mind that distance running is catabolic - you don't see any musclebound distance runners - so just to let you know that -- you may be losing some muscle mass as well w/ a lot of running.

Almost exactly what I was going to say.

While a loss in measurements is good - a better way to track is through body fat testing. THIS is where you can tell if you are actually losing fat or muscle.

I'm getting my bf% measured later this week, so I'll better understand what's going on then.

I'll be upping my weight training - don't want to lose any of my precious muscle!! I'm doing this because I LOATHE cardio and figured that with a goal such as this, I would have no choice but to move my ass :p

I have a long way to go before I get to a bf level that I am ok with!

Hi,
I used to have pretty bad cellulite which only got worse after I get pregnant. I had it mostly around my inner thighs and bottom and a bit on my tummy as well. I tried eating more healthy food and did a lot of exercise as well which friends and family members recommended but my skin was still lumpy and floppy.

BAD healthy food, why eat healthy when you can take a pill or use some cream?

I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed to have got rid of her cellulite by using a particular cream. I tried it and it worked pretty well. It took a couple of weeks but my skin had improved a lot and I managed to get rid of my cellulite completely. You can read more about the lady's article at the link below:

RIGHT, and if you believe that a topical cream can sort out the collagen matrix of the skin, then I have something I want to sell you as well.

:)
