Royce Throwing In The Towl

Re: Royce Throwing In The Towel

Great clip - Sakuraba "The Gracie Hunter" and his epic battle. I love the 5th round move when he lifts Royce by the Gi and stacks him up to land a punch to his face.

You can bet that Matt Hughes has watched this a few thousand times and his gameplan is based on effective striking and avoiding the submisstions. Royce is a legend but modern MMA fighters are too well rounded for a single style fighter.

I TOTALLY AGREE! THe new upcoming MMA fighters are so well rounded, were Royce is still a grappler..not matter what he is a grappler...Matt is going to wipe the floor w/ Gracie! Cant wait to watch! My fave part was also when he lifted him. Matt, im sure has more strength that the Jap. Cant wait to watch the match!

That Jap is a badass and probably would submit Hughes. That is the fight I would like to see.

Sak was excellent in his day (as was Royce) but he has been brutalized to many times and though his will to fight is still strong the physical and psychological acumen the made him great is tiring. Sak 3yrs ago vs Matt = great fight! Sak today vs Matt still great to see but I gotta say old sak would be going down fast & hard. Though this weekend will give us a good comparison.

Royce's camp should be practicing that drill before this weekend ;)

ufc 60 is gona suck balls. 61 on the other hand is gona be great.

I'm really looking forward to swick vs riggs. I think theres gonna be alot of action in this fight. Also, I want to see a Can hand "the nightmare" his ass, and I don't mind seeing Royce's old ass back in the octagon even though I don't think it will live up to the hype.

For those who think Royce will dominate Hughes, this should be a good lesson. No man is invincible.

Sakuraba obviously executed his game plan perfectly and the results - victory. I believe Hughes will do the same.

Sakuraba was winning the fight for sure, but I think Royce broke his arm sometime in the fight and that's why they threw the towel.

One thing that will not happen in this fight is that Hughes will not submit Royce. Hughes is probably going to win a decision (or a cut or injury stoppage). Royce has a bout a 10% chance of submitting him.

I got this fight on DVD its a old fight. Sakuraba dominated Gracie all fight. The gracie clan were pathetic they changed the rules as the fight went on it was supposed to have no rounds originally, they didnt stay in there corner and followed the fight around the ring. The only thing that was broke was Gracie`s will to keep fighting, the ref told him to stand up about 7 times in a few mins. To add insult to injury Sakuraba went on and fought another fight on the same night but lost, not suprising as his fight with Gracie was so long.

Last time i seen Sakuraba was earlier this year (i think) in Pride against Shamrock and the fight lasted about 20 seconds when Sakuraba threw a nice punch rocked shamrock, shamrock turned his back on his way down and ref stopped it.
