Ripped up a 600lb deadlift today!!!!

Okay, I'll be honest, I didn't rip it up, I had to just about kill myself to get it to lockout, but it did go. This was without a belt or straps (just chalk), and I'm not on any gear right now either. Although I hurt now, I'm pretty happy as I'm not a powerlifter and almost never go for single maxes. My weight today was 216lbs.
I got some guy at the gym to snap a picture of it, I'll post it as soon as I get the film developed.

Damn!! Nice pull. Wasn't that long ago you had just pulled 575, right? That kicks ass.

Thanks, it was maybe 3-4 months ago when I hit the 575. At the time I was only deadlifting 500lbs for 5's, this past week I hit 535lbs for a set of 5 so I figured I had it in me. I think I'm a few inches shorter right now though.

Nice pull !

Like CoolColJ said - 3xBW dead here you come.

Now you are making me reconsider my whole olympic lift phase... damn you!

good job needsize.
:supercool:

HECK OF A JOB!!!!

Thanks guys. The problem was since I never do max singles, it took me forever to actually go from the floor to lockout. The time under tension with 600lbs in my hands was 10-15 seconds, so my back is feeling a little compressed right now.

Damn dude, that is serious weight, CONGRATS! I seriously need to start working my dead again. I've been stuck in the 400's for ages.

EXCELLENT WORK!!
That's damn good man. Keep it up!

It's guys like you who really inspire me to achieve this shit.

that's funny as it was b folds 650 the other day that inspired me to take a shot at 600 today....

Great lift Needsize!

Have you considered doing a powerlifting contest with a deadlift in it? 600 pounds at 215 is some serious shit!

Thanks, I've thought about it but frankly single max lifts kinda scare me, too many training injuries over the years. I figure I'm good for close to a 400 bench, and can squat around 550, so my total would be okay, it might be something to consider

Hey man, loading and unloading the bar must have been a pain huh? :)

I think I'll use the platform when I attempt my 405 at the end of this month. Set the bars so the distance is the same as when its sitting on the floor.

It was a pain in the ass. My old gym had a contraption that you put under the bar and lifter, then loaded the plates and dropped it down again. My current one is a yuppie gym so they dont even know what a deadlift looks like

Good job on the 600! It may be time to jump into the PL'ing
world. You have a pretty good bench. This coupled with your
DL would make for a good total in a push/pull meet.

Good job with the lift - look forward to seeing a picture of what 600lbs looks like! I hope to be up to 600lbs one day - setting my sights on 500lb DL before Christmas (430lbs at the mo. so maybe a little high?).

I too, go to a yuppie gym where it really takes it out of me to unload the bar at the end. Great CV workout :)

PS- This was my first post on this board!

You want to make it easier to load and unload?????!!!!!!

Take a pair of 2 1/2-pound plates and put one next to each end of the bar. Roll the bar up onto the little plates to get the bar slightly off the ground and then the 45's will just slide right on and off easily...

It is a back saver...

Good job man... I can't wait until I can dead even 400 lbs.. I'm jealous...
