Resting heart rate and caloric ratio

Does anyone know if at a resting heart rate different people will burn a different percentage of fats\sugars using oxygen than one another? I know when the heart rate reaches higher levels like the 75% of max carbohydrates take over as being the more prevelant source of expended calories but while resting what is the prevelent source? Is it possible to make sugar into straight energy? Children claiming to get a sugar rush from pixie stix would suggest that somehow either A. The thermogenic effect of the pixie stick raised their heart rates\metabolism to the point of a "rush" or b. Its all in their heads because simply an abundance of glucose isnt gonna raise our heart rates to the point of feeling a "rush" or C. It is possible for the body to make sugar into straight energy. If C is true then whats the point of fat I know some people burn it as a prevelent energy source like low carbers but on a higher carb diet what does dietary fat do then? Couldnt you technicly eat 100% carbs(and protien) if glucose could be made into straigh energy and as long as you ate clean carbs and stayed within your total caloric expenditure your glycogen would fill up the remainder would go to fat and then u'd burn that.. but again if glucose can go straigh to energy whats the point of fat? If glucose cant go straight to energy whats a sugar rush? I've heard that carbs are the fire in which fat burns which suggests that carbs alone provide 0 energy and they simply allow us to turn fat into energy. But then I've also heard that carbs are the bodies main source of energy. Maybe these are stupid questions and I'm a misguided newbie but i wont learn if i dont ask so can anyone help?
