Reno Vet cuts down Mexican Flag

It sure is a different America than what its founders envisioned.
 
1 or 2 million more people like him and we might have a country worth living in.

I hate these threads cause they bring out the bigots on the site... But oh well...

As you all know I'm very much Pro-immigration(legal) and I'm in support laws that will help immigrants become tax-paying, law abiding citizens who add wealth to the economy and diversity to our culture mix...

On that note:
I still think that the intentions of the vet were well guided. People should observe proper USA flag etiquette. I see too many people who are completely ignorant on proper honoring and displaying of the American Flag... Pisses me off some times too! LOL

I don't think the Mexican dude meant any harm by displaying the flags. I think he was just trying to let potential customers know "Hey! this is a Mexican bar, come and buy my Tequilla, tacos and burritos. Come and get your fix of Mexico" ", same as the Irish do here in NY with their Pubs, Italians with their restaurants. They are just appealing to their market. Putting out signals that will bring people looking for their culture-specific products... He just went about in a totally ignorant and wrong way. I'm sure a simple explanation would have sufficed, but the knife wielding Vet drove the point home pretty well I think LOL LOL LOL LOL...

BTW- The bar owner is most likely a legal resident or maybe even naturalized or born American of Mexican decent... So this wasn't a video about somebody dealing with illegals... It was just the clashing of ignorance with inability of peaceful communication... Nothing more really.

I doubt that story is true... The flag was not upside down or damaged or written on or anything. It was just the placing was inappropriate. I could be wrong, but I think the Mexican dude just didn't really know. I mean, the guy in the video looked baffled! ...


As far as messing with the flag as a sign of protest...
Thats no way to protest... Even when I see American born demonstrators burning the flag on national TV that shit turns my stomach... What the flag represents, and what politicians do during their time in office, are two different things...
I'm all for people exercising their free speech to protest against policies or start movements to change the law. I even get a chuckle out of some of the stuff written to picket signs...
But doing anything degrading to the American flag is NOT cool. It is NOT American and it is NOT a good way to protest in my opinion... If it wasn't for the struggle that gave birth to our flag, these fuckers wouldn't even be allowed to gather up for a protest...

This country has been pretty much neutered as a result of eating up what we've been spoon fed in newspapers, magazines, movies, music, cable tv, CNN, etc. They say "Jump", we say "How high?" To put it into racial terms, it's to the point where I've heard a white nationalist state that sometimes he thinks the white race doesn't even deserve to be saved.

It'll be interesting to see what this country is like in another 30 or so years.

I don't know about the area that everyone else lives in, but I know here in the city I'm in, there is a cable access channel that shows all the town hall meetings and city planning meetings. I watch these when I get the chance, and I will tell ya that there is a MAYBE a handful of people there to debate issues that the city is taking a vote on. My point is that people really need to start taking more public action in larger numbers if they really want to change where this country is headed. Nobody will though, because they want everyone else to do it, or they are "to busy", or they just don't know where to begin.....just sayin.
 
It is sad how the average American is so uninformed about the facts of immigration.

There are some criminals and freeloaders that sneak in among the hardworking honest folks coming from Latin America... But the great majority of immigrants come here to work and prosper. To find opportunities for growth and to later on create opportunities for other Americans... It is not a line of people waiting to cross over so they can go on welfare. The total opposite, you have a bunch of folks who know they can make their dreams come thru in the USA... Those dreams range from succeeding in business as well as the arts... Not looking to take from the American culture and economy, but rather rather add their skills and flavor to the pot. To make a wealth here and help the USA grow richer int he progress...


You only see the "bad" immigrants on T.V... the majority of the "good" immigrants you meet throughout your day and benefit from their existence without even noticing it. But the laws you want to see enforced and the measures you want to see taken will damage ALL immigrants. Not just the ones you see on the media, but also the ones who make your life a little nicer and easier.

That is a bit of a hard stance to take. Even the best of Americans have broken the law. Some out of ignorance, others with full knowledge and just a lack of caring. Somewhere there is a born American plotting to break the law right NOW.

The illegals who commit the crime of crossing over and staying... They are doing it to save their lives for the most part! To keep from becoming caught up in the wars and misery in their own countries... You have to really know and see the human side of these people before you can make judgments...

I'm NOT advocating illegal immigration. I'm NOT justifying it. As a matter of fact, I think the wall on the MX border should be longer and higher!

I just don't let hatred cloud my judgment. These are people looking for better lives. A couple of bad apples will NOT make me want to throw the whole barrel over the fence.

Sure, their food taste weird. They dress a little funny. Some tend to over drink out of loneliness and depression for problems with their family back home... If I didn't speak their language, I would be PISSED OFF too if they were running a business and could not understand me.

But these are PEOPLE... PEOPLE! Not Animals. PEOPLE! Don't ever forget that...

The world turns. Things change. Empires rise. Empires fall. The present WILL BE the PAST one day. Today they want to come here. Tomorrow you might want to go over there... Greece, Egyp, Italy, Mongolia and even Peru where at one point huge, powerful and wealthy empires. Bigger and stronger for their time than the USA is today. Some prospered for 3-4X time longer time that the USA has been a nation.
Now those empires are just nations trying to survive, their citizens looking for better places to live...
You never know what history we will make in the next 100 or 200 or 300 years...

Lets try to set a precedent and example to love humanity, love your fellow man and hope it lasts thru the ages. You never know if your decedents will be the ones looking for a new home one day, and getting treated and abuse like shit....
Maybe even their right to "breath" will be questioned... Children who have carried your last name and DNA for ages, looking for a new home with opportunities, and getting mistreated by the locals.

As the son of a immigrant who followed the legal process, AND fully assimilated into the American melting pot, I have little sympathy for those who jump in line ahead of more deserving immigrants who perhaps have more to offer our society while taking less of our resources.
Regarless of immigration status, those who would fly the Mexican flag (or any other) above the U.S. flag have little intrest in assimilating into our culture. They seek to take what they can, while they can, for as long as they can. Yes many are simply seeking a better life for themselves, but it's at the expense of those of us that have embraced what it is to be an American.

For the record... they are in the Hamptons.
I used to work for a travelling construction company and we worked for a month in the Hamptons, right in Peter Jennings backyard... and they were there, right down at the 7-11, probley 50 of them just like every major city in the country, just hangin out hoping to get work...
 
It makes me sick to see people who were lucky enough to be born in America so desperate to kick people out who were unlucky enough to be born in a shithole like mexico. Yelling that they need to get the hell out as if it took hard work and effort to be born here and that makes them better. As long as they are willing to pay taxes and follow the laws I can't see any justification for kicking them out.

And related is the language issue. Why does everyone make such a big deal about a lot of them not learning English? English being the common language is nowhere in the constitution. The founding fathers that immigrated from Europe didn't take the time to learn native american languages. So where the hell did the idea come up that not speaking English is such a crime? I disagree with any legislation saying something has to be in both english and spanish like Canada has (based entirely off the movie "Canadian Bacon" so it could be wrong), but let them speak however they want.

I don't have much of an opinion on flags. I don't think you can separate a country from the leaders it has had. America has done a lot of good, and a lot of bad so I can understand people's opinions both ways on it.

If you are white... Go learn and say something in NICE in Spanish to a Spanish speaking person on the street, even if you sounded like a fool, you would be greeted with a smile. Spanish people (specially girls) love Gringos who at least try to speak their language. Look at it this way, If you learn to speak Spanish AND you are a native to English... You can trek the whole globe and you'll never be lost in translation... You'll either find a local that will have learned English or a Mexican dude working his ass-off who will understand your Spanish. And you know the Mexican dude will help you around and get you the good shit for a few bucks, cause they roll like that...

Illegals pay sales tax only because it's included in the price of a purchase. Few pay income taxes or property taxes. Many recieve eductional and health benefits for their children. They take from our system while contributing very little - how many handy men loitering on a street corner do we need?
History lesson: Almost none of our Founding Fathers immigrated from Europe. They were born here, the descendents of immigrants, all of whom assimilated into the early melting pot. Each successive wave of immigrants also assimilated into our culture. In the last 30 + years that has changed. These new immigrants from the South have no intrest in joining our culture. They feel entitled to keep there own culture, and expect us to cater to it.
Mexicans and South Americans aren't the only ones who are no longer assimilating. But most of the East Europeans, Asians, and Middle Easterners at least waited to come over legally first.
Catering to the Muslims who represent less than 2% of our population is a particular sore spot for me, but that's another thread.
I'm reluctant to agree with Razor Guns on anything, but he's right about refering to this great nation as the Divided States of America.
Let's make it United again! BE ONE WITH US, OR GET THE FUCK OUT!

The guy said that they didn't have the balls to fight him. What if a big ass Mexican the size of you had stepped out of that place? I'd hate to have seen him get his ass beaten.

This is the truth Mexicans dont want to become American..they want America to become Mexico.

And the vast majority of them REFUSE to learn english.

I use to be a butcher in a supermarket across the street from the welfare office and I can tell you from 1st hand experience that they are bleeding the country dry.

in a nutshell...If you get paid in cash(and they dont get 2 0r 3 dollars anymore either) and you dont pay taxes....

you should not receive any gov. assistance whether that be food stamps, free medical, etc, etc.

You guys have no idea how much money it sucked out of this country and given to a people that dont give anything back and have no intention of assimilating into our country.

Anybody that cant see the country destroying social and economic ramifications is either completely blind,stupid or is looking the other way because they don't know what to do about it.

I agree with the man cutting down the flag's sentiments but I am also a huge proponent of property rights. To a Military man, flying one flag below another subjugates what that flag represents. He should have voiced his opinions to the owner of the bar or joined a picket outside the bar. If everyone picketing outside was wearing a uniform similar to Border patrol, the bar would have to close due to lack of business.

If the law is not enforced we are going to see a rise in vigilante justice across border states. We can no longer turn a blind eye to those who wish to break our laws to get here. You want to live here, work here, or get an education here, get a visa.

i think we as Americans shoudl refuse to pay taxes as well. Maybe send our money back to Europe or Asia or Africa :)

this would be a great protest. And it will HURT the Government right where it hurts. Right in the pocketbook.

Healthcare is a problem for us citizens. But it isn't for Guadalupe and her 7 kids. Everything is paid for by the state.

Oh, and if you're ever unfortunate enough to get hospitalized w/o insurance. Don't be freakin' stupid and volunteer your SSN. Claim you're an illegal from England. Your entire ER stay will be paid-off and you can walk out with a $0 bill.

If others can abuse the system - so can u. But at least it'll be YOUR money you're abusing. When a mexican jumps the border - the first thing they do is pop out a kid, than run to get welfare, medicare, food stamps, social services, education, you name it. They talk in those communities. Trust me, they know how to work the system.

Oh and it's not their fault. It's OUR fault by electing douchebag politicians that waste your taxes on foreigners.

A huge increase in the lower class never benefits a country. I really hope the dollar tanks cuz no one in America has any freakin' skills or intellectual talent anymore. A whole nation of worthless general laborers.

I'm an American. There's no reason i should learn spanish, japanese, italian or hindu to communicate with other people on my street. You don't see Canadians learning Cantonese or English learning Hindi.

I'm late to the thread. I agree BRR has made a few very thoughtful and intelligent posts but bottomline is illegal is illegal. I'm grandson of immigrants who did it legally. They learned english and assimilated into american culture. I vote no amnesty, major penalties for employers who hire illegals, and no goverment benefits for illegals. IF they want to come here then get in line with all the others waiting legally. This goes for Mexicans, Russians, Indians, Irish, Chinese and any one else. We don't have to round 'em up to get 'em out... just cut off the jobs and goverment benefits. They'll leave.

Well said BRR.

Half of my neighborhood is comprised of friendly, hard-working mexican families. Some of the nicest people I have ever gotten to know. You should have seen the looks on their faces and ensuing smiles when I first spoke spanish to them. They cook me food all the time, share anything they can with me. I think I gave them more out of my gardens than I ate this year.

Gives me a chance to learn more spanish and I have some good friends now too. It is true about latinas too, if you try to speak to them in spanish... :p
