Relief for a black toenail?

Slammed my toe and the fucker turned black within 5 minutes and been throbbing the past two hours. Supposed to go out tonite but can't get dress shoes on. Chick I'm going with says I can't wear sneaks.

Bro says i need to take the pressure off the nail, and gave two options...Take a needle and heat it red-hot and pierce the nail, or take an x-acto knife and "drill" the nail by spinning the blade on the nail.

Any of y'all had this? What'd you do to get the blood out from under the nail?

exactly....drill a small hole in top of nail...you'll feel 1000X better bro...just go slow and stay shallow, have paper towel standing by, and sit down. :)

DONE!!

I opted for the needle. I started pussing out when twisting the x-acto. Nothing was happening cuz I wasn't putting any pressure on it. So I put the needle on the gas burner, made it red-hot and it made a nice sizzling sound when I put it in.

Feels better already, tho still pounding a bit. I think I broke the toe. The whole thing is swollen and purple.

yup, and a broken toe is not something i can play-off of tonite for a pity fuck...or is it?

Hey bro, same thing happened to both my big toes from playing football on a turf field. I went to the ER and they pierced them both with a hot metal point. A few weeks later they both fell off, painlessly. One toenail grew back perfectly, the other one ended up ingrown a few months down the road...and it hurt badly. I needed surgery on that one.

For now, soak that foot in a warm solution of water and epsom salt (available at any grocery or pharmacy). This will soften the nail bed and prevent infection. Hopefully the nail won't fall off...if it does no big deal, just don't trim the corners your nail (where it meets your toe).
 
Wow, I didn't know you could do anything for nails when you crush the part they cover.

At my job we have to use our fingers all day, assembly line, and if we cut our fingers too short, talk about pain. The nail that is cut too far back cuts into the meat, owwy. Anywho, anyone know something to strengthen the nail? I cut them about every 2 weeks but by the 2nd week they grow out and crack/break, get caught in the gloves, or worse, and tear down the middle.

Might sound gay but I bet clear nail polish would work pretty good.

no joke! tho i'm suprised at how much this little toe has fucked up my balance.

sure enuff, the thing is broken. i got 'er taped to the toe next door. looks even worse today, but the pain isn't nearly as bad as yesterday.

i'm wondering if the hole I made with the needle will cause an infection?

As stated, heat a needle or paper clip and it will melt through the toe nail and relieve the pressure. It may hurt due to the heat, but once through it is relief.

Instead of an exacto knife, get a 1/8 or smaller drill bit and slowly spin it between your fingers. It will bore into the nail slowly and open the area to drain and relieve the pressure also. Less painful, unless you go too deep.

How you do it? I do it annually in my ski boots. By the time the nail falls off and grows back, it is ski season again and I start all over.
