Relations between Empiricism and Nominalism

Do you guys think that Nominalism and Empiricism are directly related, or are they two parallel philosophies? Would an Empiricist be inherently a Nominalist? I'm thinking mainly of Hume who's both a Nominalist and Empirisist.
