When I was adjusting to being a serious powerlifter I probably tore off the callouses once a week or so until my hands adapted. Used to pull until they popped then tape up the hand and get back to work.
In other words: "Congratulations son you have taken another step into manhood"

haha thanks. That's the thing though. I don't want to become a competitive powerlifter or BBer for that matter. I just enjoy lifting weights and the aesthetic games that come with it; also deadlifts but if i get bloody hands and it hurts to grip things everyday cuz of bloody callouses that's not too ideal for me. I don't mind getting callouses, but this one goes from where callouses usually are to about 1/3 up my finger. It's just a bloody mess. Maybe it's the way i gripped the bar? It even hurt to do 2 pullups in gym today. and deadlift lower than 135 pounds (little less than half as much as i did yesterday).
Anda- I just turned 18 about a month ago I started deadlifting last May until early-mid summer, but then stopped for 4 months so my callouses went away. I've been deadlifting since November and have had callouses, but recently they've been much worse when i've gotten to heavier weight. Been doing grip work, and am going to get chalk soon; does chalk have any effect on callouses?
