Ramen Noodles - A.K.A. Welfare Soup

Okay people, for $.13 I can buy a packet of Ramen noodles at my grocery store. They're cheap, and have 2 servings a container. Surprisingly (aside from the high sodium at 900mg) they don't seem that bad. 380 calories in a packet (190 a serving), with 1 gram of dietary fiber, 1 gram of subar, and the other 25 or so grams of carbohydrates from just the starchy noodles. Now, I love this soup, and it's crazy cheap. I don't see why those would be bad carbs, so could I use them early in the day as a source of carbs, instead of my PB&J (since I wanted to avoid the sugar in the jelly, and I'll just throw in a Tbsp of ANPB later in the day sometime instead)?

Well, if I don't add the flavoring (or very little) can I use those cheap little noodles as a source of carbs? I don't see why not. No High Fructose Corn Syrup, either. Probably better than jelly and bread.

The flavor package is not needed. Fry the (cooked) noodles in a little olive oil with onions until brown (as brown as you prefer(I like golden brown)). Add chicken.

What you don't realize that's bad for you is the fact that with those 25 grams of carbs, you have all the fat as those noodles are FRIED.

No thanks, I classify that as shit food.

i agree
most people do not know these noodles are already prefried

with lots of TRANSFATS

Trans fat
monosodium glutamate
sodium
high GI carbs

what else to say ?

Not sure what you are asking bro. What kind, types, when, how much, with what, etc??

I utilize oats/rice for the most part, not much else. Everything else is green vegetables, meat of any kind, and protein powder.

No yams/sweet potatoes? Oats, Yams, tons of veggies, are the staple of my carbs..........

Yeah, I do use yams on occassion, especially the last week when carb loading for a show or similar event. That's about all I can stomach in the no sodium phase.

plus don't they have like 9g of sat. fat? Or is that a different type like cup oh noodles or something? On top of that they taste like turd.

the older fashion ones contain sat fat
the newer "lite" has trans fat

i know i had the same attitude with ramen being a poor college student. it wasnt until i discovered EF and about got my head chewed off for eating them every day that i discovered they were probably one of the main reasons for my spare tire around my gut. after cutting them out of my diet i lost about 6 or 7 % bf in about 2 months. i will never touch a ramen noodle again. strictly for dumpsters.
