R.I.P. Paul Newman

50 years of marriage

He sometimes teamed with his wife and fellow Oscar winner, Joanne Woodward, with whom he had one of Hollywood's rare long-term marriages.

"I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?" Newman told Playboy magazine when asked if he was tempted to stray.

Wow... Too little integrity left in the world. Now there is a little less.

I don't think so.

They featured a story about him on the news not long ago about companies surviving after the founder is gone.

The good thing is all profits from the company were given to Charity. Mostly to food banks and his own camps for destitute kids called "hole in the wall".

When he was racing GT cars, I went on a warmup day to Lime Rock track (in Conn.), I walked the course and ended up watcing the day from out front of his coach, he came out and chatted throughout the day, there were probably only a few of us there - and was just such a gentleman. I always loved him since Butch Cassidy, RIP Paul.

Just a cool guy who made classic movies. Hard to ever find someone to say something bad about the guy.

He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker.

good night, cool hand :(

A great actor, and even greater human being.

'Shameless exploitation' was how he described his strategy for making money for his charities.

I remember watching slapshot as a kid and thought wow.... this guy was doin his thing in the 70's.
best scene from that movie is when the guy is taking the giant demo hammer to the side of the bus!!!!!
"hey, what are you doing to the bus?"
"I'm making it look mean!"

PN was truly "a man's man", esp in a line of work where backstabbing, lying, vanity and plilandering was/is a way of life.

his "buddy" movies with redford are under-appreciated today.

after my father read the "steak" quote he shamlessly stole it and used it every chance he could; much to my mother's embarrassed pleasure. :luxlove:  :artist:

rip .. 1 of my favorite old time actors and i loved his spagetti sauce yummy!

He did his last race at 81 yrs old. That's enough to kill most people right there. I wonder if her drove around the track going 25 MPH with his blinker on the whole time.

R.I.P. PN. Definitely one of my favorite actors of all time.
