Those high fat/high carb meals are much more likely to increase your resistance to insulin than a low fat high carb meal, therefore you should be more likely to benefit from taking ALA with high fat meals. The whole point of taking the ALA is to prevent some of the carbs you eat from getting stored as fat, and allow your body to return to fat-burning ASAP. Your body gets a double whammy with a high saturated fat/high sugar meal because, without ALA, you are more inclined to store both the fats AND the carbs as fat instead of burning them for fuel or storing them for glycogen. It's all about getting your insulin under control.....
