What did Eric Bishoff do prior to WCW? I was watching the PPV specail "Monday Night Wars," and he mentioned that at one point, he was going to buy WCW from Ted Turner. He also said something about flying on his own jet.

Where did he get his cash from?

He worked for the AWA as an announcer and booker for a short period of time. After the AWA closed down, he did some announcing for a racing company (funny cars I think they are called). He joined the WCW in 91' as an announcer (got the job because he was friend with Diamond Dallas Page)and by luck got to be in charge in 93' because he got close to T. Turner and because the company was mismanaged for about 5 years. He only started making real money in the 90's when he was in his late 30's, early 40's (from 91-93, he made about $125,000, from 93-95, ???, from 95-98 he made $500,000/year and from 98-01 made about $750,000) He "left" WCW in 1999 for a brief period of time but was still getting paid because he was under contract. He must have invested his money. He was no real genius...he just had a large budget and spent it on big name wrestlers and pro athletes. In the end he put WCW in almost a $60 million hole and WWE (WWF at the time) bought WCW for a mere $2.5 million, which is sad. Time Warner just wanted to get ride of it because it only made money one year (1997) in its existence (1988-2001) which is pretty bad. After WCW ended and his contract expired he got a job as VP of some martial arts fighting thing that was supposed to be on TV, never worked out..he was offered a contract several times by WWE and finally excepted. Now he is working for the guy he used to put down every week on TV. Life sucks sometimes, but at least he is getting paid (from what I hear it is around $275,000/yr.) End of story. Please don't ask how I know...I am going to jump out my window now..Thank you.. :worried:

And he wasn't going to buy WCW, he was going to have another company buy it (for about 10 million) and they would have him run it. It almost happened by Time Warner did not want to have any pro wrestling on their networks, so decided to sell to WWE and for 7.5 million less (which means they really wanted to get rid of it). Ok, now I am going to jump... :worried:

How much was Goldberg making during those glory years of WCW?

Goldberg from 1997-2000 was about $250-$500 (he got big real fast so they paid him more than what is contract called for)..2000-2003 he was making 3 million per year...WCW signed his contract in 2000 but went out of business in 2001 (sold to WWE). Time Warner/AOL still had to pay him is full amount as it was a gauranteed contract..they offered to buy him out (so that would make him available to wrestle for any other fed, i.e. WWE) but he didn't go for it because WWE would not have paid him near what WCW was. He sat around..worked out and got 3 million a year for basically doing nothing (as did a lot of WCW guys) until Jan 2003. He signed a one year contract with WWE in March of 2003 for 1.5 million + bonus. Word has it that he has only made an extra $250,000 in bonus money even though he is one of there biggest stars (Shawn Michaels has made about $400k in bonus money this year and wrestles a lot less and is not always in main events). He was disappointed in that and the direction the company was taking his character (they did not want him to do the spear anymore because that was also Edge's move, he refused and pissed a lot of people off) and decided not to renew his contract. His match at WrestleMania 20 will be the last for the company unless the come to terms before then. He already has two dates set in Japan were he stands to make $100k per appearance...a way better deal than what WWE was offering (about 1 million per year+ bonus---$500k less than what he is making now.) Plus WWE is going through hard times so they do not pay wrestlers as much as they used to or at least the wrestlers who are not in good with Vince McMachon don't get paid as much (which Goldberg is not one of them). Highest paid guys now are Stone Cold (can't wrestle because of prior injuries, Vince has respect for him because he wrestled injured from 1998-2000 and keeps him on pay roll hoping for a return like Michaels did a few years ago), HHH (married to Vince's daughter), Shawn Michaels (Vince has respect because he did not jump to WCW in the late 90's when he could have and gotten paid more money and returned from a career ending injury. Micheals didn't wrestle from 1998-2002 but still got paid $750K per year because Vince liked him and felt he owed him for his loyalty) and actually the Rock. The Rock only wrestles around certain period because of his new movie career (Wrestlemania time being on of them). He does this to keep the wrestling fan base (to help his movies) and makes a cool $3 million a year for it (contact signed in 2000 and expires in 2005). After next year I would imagine he would resign at a lower amount. He would almost certainly resign because he does not want to lose the wrestling fan base. Gave you a little more than was asked--o well....I am now going to slit my wrists...thank you....

dude, you sure know a lot of shit. did you contribute/work at a wrestling website or something?

Anyway, if you guys get a chance watch Monday Night Wars. It was really a good program, although I'm sure some of you (averirup) might spot some mistruths. But the show kinda brought me back a little. I don't think wrestling will ever be as entertaining as it was during that time period, which is fine because i really don't have the time to watch it.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we have a guru here

What about Foley? what is up with him now?

Foley wrestled injured for about 5 of his last years and basically retired because he had too (docs and wife wanted him too. By the way his wife is hot!). He is back basically for the money and because of just being in front of the crowd. He was popular in the late 90's WWE era so Vince brought him back to help ratings (which are way below average on Spike TV). Their average is about 3.2 now, compared to 5.8 in 2000. Their PPV buyrates are down (this years Royal Rumble actually did very well), as are the house shows. Many blame it on the "brand extension", while others just say it is the cycle of business (they went through a simular period in the early to mid 90's and then blew up in the late 90's). Others blame it on the writers and lack of talent. Whatever is causing the down shift in business, it needs to be fixed or WWE will have big lay offs (talent and non-talent). Talent already layed off this and last year include Kanyon (injured most of his contract), The Kat (announcer for Smackdown), Raven (WWE decided not to renew contract and had problems with management), D'Lo Brown (WWE decided not to renew contract after 7 years with company- for what I hear D'lo was cool with it and wants to work there again in the future-left on good terms), Kevin Nash (WWE decided not to renew his talent contract because of injuries in the last two years, which was worth $700,000 + bonus, offered him an office job at about $200,000, but he turned it down because of pay and the fact that he would have to move his family. He has one date in Japan in a few months with Scott Hall which should get him $25-$50K), Spanky (quit to work Japan, tired of writing and pay) and they are a few more on the way....rumored are Goldberg (decided not to renew), Renee Dupree (management does not like) and Test (management likes but him dating Stacey Keibler causes too many problems). Only one of those three I think will go-Goldberg. Ok, I am going to hang myself now...Thank you..

I slit my wrists and jumped out my 12th story window before...first time I have hung myself..I think.... :chomp:

how do you know so much inside stuff?

I would have to kill you if I told you....very serious stuff, this wrestling thing..it is like the mafia...WWE....We Will Executed Anyone Who Tells Our Business.....I guess that would be WWEAWTOB....Whatever...

One more thing for the Nature Boy while I am hopped up on caffeine....

Ok, I had some espresso earlier, so I am a little hyper…..”The Nature Boy” Ric Flair stated wrestling in the mid 70’s under his real name Richard Flheir in Minnesota in the AWA. He then wrestled for several different territories one of them being what then was called Georgia Championship wrestling (one of the biggest). In 1976ish he was in a plane crash that broke his back and thought he would never walk again let alone wrestle…But a few years later he was back and everyone was amazed that a guy who broke his back could go out and do 60 minute matches 5 times a week. That is when he started getting respect from everyone in the biz and his interview skills made him a star. In the early 80’s he was making about $350,000, which then was unheard of, because he was literally wrestling 320 days per year and never home. Keep in mind he was married with a child. In the mid 80’s Jim Crockett bought WWF’s TBS contract (WWF was on TBS for a short time but was also on USA Network. TBS forced WWF to sell because they did not like them being on a competing station. When Vince signed over the contract to Jim Crockett for $1 million dollars, he actually told Jim C to his face that he (Jim C) would choke on that million and WWF would dominate…which actually was true…4 years later (1988) Jim C, nearly broke would sell the national NWA to Ted Turner who owned TBS and then officially changed the name to WCW in 1991) and started a national NWA wrestling co (NWA had been around since 1905 but was always broken up into smaller territories) and made Ric Flair the champ because of his work ethic, interview skills and drawing power. In the 80’s the two biggest drawers were Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. Flair would be the second highest paid wrestler in the 80’s behind Hulk Hogan. Vince McMahon tried to get Flair several times but failed until 1991 when Flair was pissed at the forever changing WCW management. Flair went to WWF and was pretty successful. The put the world title on him, but business then was very slow and didn’t make a great deal of money. When his two-year deal ended he decided to go back to WCW (Bischoff just took over but he actually signed his contract when Bill Watts was running it) for about $475,000 per year. Within two years Hogan would start with WCW and business started to pick up…By 1995 he was making $1 million per year. In the late 90’s however he had a falling out with Eric Bischoff, who at that time could do not anything wrong in Ted Turner’s eyes and left the co for a short period of time…But was still getting paid because like all WCW contracts, his money was guaranteed. He returned, to be in front of a crowd (can be an addiction) wasn’t happy with Biscoff, but did it anyway. In 2001 when WWE bought WCW, Flair sat out and continued to get paid until in 2002 when his contract ran out he signed with WWE for $475,000 per year. That was supposed to be a limited talent contract where he would only have to take a few bumps here and there and mostly be on the mic as a manager or their “fake” president (or GM) .….Didn’t turn out that way, he is actually is wrestling more now than he was in his final WCW days and getting paid a lot less. A few weeks ago he was slightly injured and probably will not be in the ring that much longer (the guy is in his mid 50’s). WWE will still keep him around to be a teacher to the younger guys and also because he really is one of the few wrestlers that everyone respects because of his talent. His contract expires later this year. I will now electrocute myself….Thank you…

And she is not that good looking in person...she is a little chubby. With big (way to big) fake boobs...Stick with the chick in your avatar!!!

for a guy that likes to off himself a lot, you sure do know a lot about wrestling.

either that or you're on test and all these references to slitting wrists, hanging, etc are merely just code for "i'm going to go jerk off again."

Come on now. Aree you involved in the business? are you a wrestler?

Are you one of the Bushwackers? I bet you are.

Make up bro, make up......She is ok is real life. She is married to a big prick..HHH..and once did Bret Hart and from what I here was a super slut in college (nothing confirmed though)....I even think there are some pics hanging around on the net of her from her college days. Lets play six degrees of Vince McMahon....Vince McMahon did Sunny (Tammy Sytch, who is now drugged out and takes nude shots for money)...who was engaged at the time and now married to Chris Candido (Skip of Bodydonnas)...who slept with Steph McMahon...Steph slept with Bret Hart when she was a little "too" young, Bret Hart then slept with Sunny (which eventually Bret's wife found out about and dumped him, Chris Candido found out and did nothing.. :worried: ) who later slept (this is an actual fact) with Vince McMahon who cancelled Hart's 2 million dollar per year contract and let him sign with WCW not only because of his limited drawing power but rumor has it he found he was slamming his daughter a few years back....So actually Vince has slept with his own daughter...ewwww.... Was that six degrees, shit I don't even know how to play the damn game...whatever...I am going to go and take 2 bottles of Advil and chase it down with Vodka (as crak600 would say code for jerking off)..... :p
