Question on Cardio and Fat burning

If I want to do cardio first thing in the morning, is it best that I do NOT eat anything? That I just do my my cardio on a empty stomach?

Yes it is the body will burn more fat when it is first thing and were not talking about 1 hour cadio. 30 minutes, 45 at the top end.
But you must eat immediately post cardio because body is very catobolic.
And need some fast absorbing fuel.

note: if you eat anything before cardio it takes 5 hours to completely use up that food before it will focus on fat burning.
I think the up to date numbers are 15% fat burning remainder is going on burning whatever you have consumed.

If you didn't eat anything they say 45 plus percent fat burning.

I think at the end of the day the main thing when cutting is that one does some form of cardio during the day , as it further enlarges ones calorie deficit while still allowing optimal nutrition

I do fasted cardio 45 min in the morning , no food for at least 10 hours , it's also slow steady cardio heart rate 120 to 135 bpm

I then follow that up with a whey shake and oats (no fats as far as possible) but I wait 30 to 40 min post cardio to have this meal , this advice I read from Chris aceto ( trained the likes of jay cutler , mike francious etc)

Why 30 to 40 minutes AFTER the cardio run?

According to them it just takes more benefit and extends the fat burning while everything is in hyperdrive post cardio , seems to be working fine for me , I have not sacrificed much muscle , and my weightloss has been consistent 1 to 2 lbs a week.

But whatever works for you and your comfortable with , I just have a shower and then have my meal

Remember chris also hates cardio and seems if he could stop his athletes doing cardio he would lol rather relying on weights and diet .

I came across it keeping tabs on a q and a thread he has going !

if you are doing intense cardio you shouldn't eat anything prior to that anyway. doesn't matter if its the morning or not, unless you want to get sick.

a handful of cereal or some brown rice or a piece of sweet potato 2 hours before intense cardio is all you should eat.

runners who race in the morning either do that or they do not eat before a run. and also you should be hydrated, your pee should be white before running

i was an endurance runner for 2 years and this is what we all did. people who ate before or drank the wrong thing ended up blowing chunks during the races

My problem is that I get light headed if I go too hard without something in my stomach. I eat a spoonful of peanut butter before morning cardio. It gives me just enough to get 45 minutes in without making me dizzy or lightheaded and without making me feel too full.

Anyone else agree with Rebecca? That taking in a small amount of PB before morning cardio good to do?

^^^ depends on what of cardio you are talking about.

you never answered that.

if you go on the elliptical and jerk around for an hour then you can eat anything before and it won't be a big deal cause the elliptical doesn't do shit.

if you are gonna go do interval training on a track where you are sprinting a 1/4 mile then jogging, then sprinting, then jogging. then if you ate peanut butter or anything else for that matter it would end up on the track very quickly.

I don't see a problem with it , it helps her get through her cardio and that's the most important thing, as long as the peanut butter fits within your daily target intake

If I am feeling like that I prefer 1/2 a whey shake , but whatever works for you as an individual

I know guys and gals get super ripped on fasted cardio , I know plenty get super ripped with cardio post workout in the evening , and know people who get super ripped on no cardio at all but a super tight diet and weight training .....
