Nearly every serious bodybuilder removes their own body hair, but no one ever talks about how they do it. Shaving or clipping are effective, but you have to do it so often. Other merthods can lead to irritation or ingrown hairs.

What method do you all prefer?:alien:

Epil-stop?

Have you tried Epil-stop? I heard those "hair retardant" type goops and lotions don't work at all. But I haven't tried 'em so I don't know first hand.

I shave... my girlfriend appreciates the little stubble on my chest (or lack of stubble), arms, and legs.

be sure and use a clean razor and lotion afterwards (pref. with E and Aloe)... razor bumps on your chest and legs are just nasty.

Shave my arms, chest, stomach -- every day. Wax my butt, because its tough to shave at that angle. And its ok if I have to wait for the hair to grow back a little before I wax it again since most people don't see it anyway. I used to shave my legs, but I am so incredibly hairy, I would have to shave it again at night. So, now I run a 1" clipper over it. I'd prefer it to be completely smooth, but this keeps at looking at least clean, without spending a half hour a day on them.

DAMN! :mix: I flinch just thinking about that.

I've used razor, clippers, nair & wax.

Razor = razor bumps except for on the cahones.
Clippers = good for legs
Nair = only used it on chest...worked well, lasted for almost a week before needing it again
Wax = hurt like a MF on my chest, fire red for a day, but OK afterwards. Grew back to stubble after 1 week...stick w/Nair.

My g/f uses Epil Stop & Spray and says it works well, though it burns just a bit at first. Shit smells like Nair, so think they use same active ingredients.

I use a razor on arms, legs. Nair on the chest and wax my back. Wax lasts for about 3 to 4 weeks, then have to do it again. Shave arms and legs once a week, should do it more often, but dont have the patience (i really hate shaving!)

I tried the epil stop thing on my chest. First time, nothing, second time, I left it on a lot longer and ended up with an aweful chemical burn all over my chest, inluding on my oh so sensitive nipples. I'm going to have to try waxing next.

I hate to admit this... but I read an article in my g-friends cosmo about hair removal... it was question submitted by a chick w/ black hair on her arms...

Cosmo said... use Nair... and then this new Jergens lotion that is supposed to soften hair... supposively this lotion, is for girls to use on their legs, it claims to cut the amount of times a girl will have to shave her legs in half...

I just got some 2 days ago...

I use clippers on my entire body... I have very course hair...

I tried to shave my chest ONCE... I got a shit load of ingrown hairs... so I use the clippers w/ out an attachment on my chest... it gets it fairly close, but not so close that I get ingrown hairs... I use the smallest attachment on the rest of my body...

I just started this Jergens stuff... it DOES soften the hair... It says it takes 4-6 weeks to work effectively...

But w/ the amount of body hair I have... I might have to use a bottle of this shit a week!!

I'll let everyone know!!!

-Rock

One more thing... it said the reason the Nair works better in this situation, is b/c it dissolves the hair... SO... when it starts to grow back out it should be softer, not a sharp end like a razor leaves... and then combining that w/ the Jergens lotion should make the hairs really really soft, and not as noticable...

I tried nair, but it didn't do shit. I left it on my arms for twice as long as the bottle said to, and the hair didn't dissolve at all.

I'm sticking with my razor blade. If you are careful, and prep the area well, you shouldn't have much problems with ingrown hairs, and razor burn. I have the most sensitive skin, and ALOT of coarse hair, and I don't get too many problems anymore.

Waxing gives me nightmares, just thinking about it.

I tried epil stop and it took the hair off along with some skin and totop it all off the hair grew back in like 2 weeks.

Whats the point in shaving any way? Looks gay, unless you are gay, a stripper or a woman, let that shit grow like its ment to.

I do shave my nuts though.......j/k ;)

Why don't you start asking women how many prefer a rug on a guys chest or nice and smooth...
also, I'm gonna quote Maxium here...
"Number of women who find back hair attractive .000000000001%"

i resemble that comment! ;)

I wax, don't have to worry about hair for 3 long glorious weeks. (Try to find a place that uses european wax) Honee sux!!

how come no one has done electrolysis? just woundering cuz i want to do that when i get older and have the money. is there side affects?

Never use Epil Stop!!! It cut the hell out of my chest, there was actually blood oozing from small paper-cut like cuts all over. Plus, it didn't take any hair off whatsoever.... It hurt to wear a shirt for a week, and workouts sucked big time. Jay Cutler said in MD that he just uses a razor also....

waxing for now but i am saving money to get laser done pretty soon!

anyone here have any comments about laser? or know anyone who got laser done?
i just dont wanna waste my money on treatments and then see the hair comin back ?

My best friend is one hairy bastard!

He doesn't want to shave (rough feel) or wax (pain) because he doesn't like that plasticy shaved/waxed look - and I agree with him. The way he fixes the problem is to clipper his hair so that it is a shorter length and then he uses a body hair bleach on it.

This gets an excellent result. He still looks like a guy and avoids that waxed look, yet at the same time he doesn't look like a gorilla now. I think this is an excellent solution.

I have tried everything for my back. I am not a bodybuilder, so I don' t care if I have hair everywhere else (which I do) but back hair is something I cannot handle, even married and old, like I am.

I can say that for me at least:

Epilstop - doesn't work, unless you want a nasty chemical burn. I think it might actually make hair grow.

Nair - See the wonderful Epilstop results

Waxing/sugering - works, but hurts like a bastard. I consider myself to be pretty tough, but when you think about how much square footage is on the back of a 220+ lber, you are talking a long time to be in intense pain. But worth it, if you can get someone to do it.

Shaving - this has become my method of choice. My wife does a shitty job, and cuts me to hell every time we do this, but I can't reach it myself, so I suffer through it. Works great for a few days. I now only shave it before I go to the lake, or before a powerlifting meet where I will be shirtless a lot. Just too much trouble otherwise.

Any ideas on permanent back hair removal would be appreciated. I am not thinking that back hair will become fashionable any time soon. I would just as soon it went away and stayed away.

I tried Enleve last week. I have to say it worked well. It didn't burn like Nair (nair fries me!), but it worked about the same. The trick is to put it on thick and leave it on for 12-15 minutes (instructions say 7-10). The biggest drawback is the price. One bottle will do my back, shoulders, chest, and abs only once. At $20 a pop, that's expensive hair removal. I'm thinking about giving it a chance for 6 weeks to see if the claims of stopping re-growth are true. I have my doubts about that.

I tried removing hair from my body for about 5 years. I hated my hair. I had dreams about it and how much i hated it so finally one day i started shaving it all - legs, chest, stomach. I got MASSIVE ingrown hairs. I have been trying to get better over the years, but nothing is very satisfactory:

SHaving
- ingrown hairs every where, burning sensation, super quick regrow

Epilator
- Could only stand the pain on my lower legs and outer upper legs. Anything too close to inner thigh was like HELL for pain!

Sugaring
- Total crap! didn't work. My hair can't be fooled into coming out that easy

Home Waxing
- I go through the whole kit in about 5 minutes and it doesn't work very well.

I gave up!!! There is nothing that works well. I am hairy now. And the worst part is the back hair!! I feel like an animal... in a bad way. I cant take my shirt off, i can't go swimming. I am so afraid of people seeing it. I used to have a gf that would epilator it for me, but without her I can't reach it.

I hope to get Laser in the future, but it is sooo damn expensive and the results vary a lot from person to person.

DAMNIT , i HATE HAIR!!!

heh, just curious, what EXACTLY are ingrown hairs? Stupid question, but ya :)

An ingrown hair is basically when the hair starts to grow back, but instead of coming out through the hole in the skin, it misses the hole and starts to grow off to the side, under the surface of the skin. Sometime you can see hairs that are ingrown that have been there for a while. They look like thin black lines under the skin. And they can cause scaring. I try to pick them out. Sometimes they create a white-head and you can squeeze them out. Either way, they get irritated mostly and aren't fun.

What little I`ve heard about the lasers is you still have to do them a few times in the same place to to regrowth, but they say it comes back less and less each time.
Is that what you guys hear? and this was for women`s faces where there is`nt really that much to begin with and is`nt even that coarse.

Here is a great web site for hair removal:

http://www.hairfacts.com/

It give the lo-down on all the different hair removal efforts. For laser, if i remember correctly, it says that it works best on light skined people with dark hair. THe laser attacks the pigment containing elements [hair] so it should be avoided if you have dark skin with lots of pigment.

And the results vary from person to person. But i think overall, people say that there is long term "hair reduction" but i dont know how many people have full hair removal over long term.

-Fatty

I read that laser takes multiple treatments and you have to stay out of the sun for like a year or something... I want to get it in the future though cuz I hate being hairy. Here's what I've tried:

Nair: I have sensitive skin so all this caused was a lot of inflammation and bumps... didn't work too well either.

Nair at home wax kit: Okay it worked pretty well and the pain was slightly bearable on the legs/thighs. But when I tried it on the inner thigh  FUCK! god that hurt. Not worth it.

Shaving works best for me... all I need is a Mach 3 and Edge Gel for sensitive skin :)

I think you guys need some female input on the waxing issue :) Waxing takes some skill - if you do it wrong it hurts a lot more, plus you end up breaking some hairs instead of pulling them out by the root, so they grow back way faster. All my girl friends go to the salon.

And if you're still worried about pain, I have three words for you: Brazilian bikini wax ...

shaving, easiest, about every 3 days

nair, very easy just the 8 minutes i need to wait get boring, i have fair skin and dont have any problems, about once a week

sugar, same as nair but with pain

wax, took about a month before i needed it done again, my favorite

my buddy got the laser shit done, his aunt does it and it came out really good.

i won't remove my body hair until there's a cream that will do it effectively. i've heard that magic hair removal powder stuff is good, but haven't given it a shot yet. i hate shaving my face, there's no way i'm gonna shave every other inch of my body too.

So far I've just been shaving. Really sucks too. Has anyone had waxing done professionally or is everyone doing it at home? I'd rather do it at home, but back is hard to reach.

I used to use a razor, but ive been waxing for a while now... I just get sick of having to shave every 3 days. Waxing takes care of it for about a month, and it starts to come back finer and thinner than it was.

You can do it at home, but i prefer going down to the tanning shop down the street.

Electric razor on the upper body and arms. I use a finisher, made for sideburns I think. haha Made by Oster 65-70$. Its lasted me a while. Had to change the blade once though. You can order them online for about 15-25$. I like to get enough hair off so that I can atleast see where I am at. I often get lazy with it and let it grow out also.

Damn I had no idea so many of you guys are rmoving hair... especially those who aren't bodybuilders. Lots of OLD threads popping back up recently. Weird.

For peeps that get really bad razor burn/ingrown hairs....looks up this product called "TendSkin".

It's available at - wait for it - www.beavershaver.com
It also has a good writeup about it. People on the fashion/grooming board have sworn by this stuff.

I was also think about buying that geiko shaver at beavershaver.com also. It looks interesting.

All I can say guys is that

1. Get lightsheer XC laser hair removal if you can afford it !!! Best laser out there and it is highly effective, If you cannot afford it, use wax !!!

2. Tend skin is a rip off !!! it is about 70% rubbing alcohol (smell it and you will see)... i just use 70% rubbing alcohol and it workks exactly the same and it is WAY cheaper !!! try it and tell me, and yes it will sting like a bitch but you get used to it and you can use it anywhere on your body (just like tend skin)

karma is appreciated if i helped out any.

god bless

Hi all I'm new to this site. I thought that this would be the one post where I could chime in and maybe have a few of you envious. I am newibie to wieght training so you all have me beat at everything except having to remove body hair. I feel bad for the pain it must cause. Anyway I have no hair, none on my chest, back or even arms just a very little bit on lower legs. Everywhere else I am supposed to have hair I do ;)

I just use clippers, its easy and I rarely get ingrown hairs,Il get a zit or two if I let the hair grow, and I do it once a week, legs maybe once a month and I am set

I do plan on using the bladeless razor system by veet,my girl says it works good,if so Ill use it on my chest, forearms, upper back(yuck) and legs

as for magic shaving powder cream ,I can do the crakola but anywhere else I get wicked chem burn

I use tendskin and it works great! no zits/ingrownhairs.
I also find tanning slows down hairgrow and helps with no zits/ingrownhairs

I get my back waxed and nair chest/shoulders.

was the chest; shave the pits, trim the crotch, shave the coc and balls, taint and the brown starfish. Keeps everything nice and tidy; you never know when someone will want to explore all those areas. [shaving tip: use the best blade you can find; I use the 5 blade one; and shower to get wet and then to the steam room; i know the times when it is likely to be empty. shave the legs there; easiest way to shave; dont need shave cream and its fast and thorough. Use some sort of lotion afterwards on the legs, as the steam room will dry them out. Have to do this twice a week to keep down the stubble. Shaved and tanned; brings out the defintion in the quads.

I envy you guys. The guys who can shave and wax without ingrowns...or even use laser with results. I have had none of the above. My experiences..

SHAVING-- How do you use a Mach3?? Holy shit..that thing tears me to shreds. Pimples EVERYWHERE. I've tried the two blade, with a little less irriatation, but to put this in perspective. I could only shave my shoulders, arms, once every 3-4 weeks because of all the pimples and irratation I get.

WAXING-- I've never tried professional waxing. But I've bought some expensive waxing kits and even used waxing strips. It doesn't work, my hair grows so fast that in a few days the hair sprouts again that was below the surface not effected by waxing. AND once again, massive massive ingrowns.

NAIR-- Burning, but thats not the worst part. Once again, big red ingrowns.

LASER-- I've been lasered 24 times on my shoulders. 24 times. I don't do this for long term effects, I only do this because it makes the hair fall out for about six weeks. It all comes back, and I mean all of it. Additionally, my tech misses some spots so I'm never really completely hair free and I nair or shave the rest with a norelco razor while still gettin some ingrowns.

ELECTRIC SHAVING-- I can probably electric shave once every 2 weeks without ingrowns. That's about it. But it is nice to use on the spots the tech missed from laser in between hair periods.

ELECTROLYSIS-- I haven't tried it..but this is the next route. Laser does not work on me, not one iota for long term. Supposedly electrolysis is as good as it gets for long term. So I'm gonna save up 10K and blow it all on this. It might take a while to get that much money.

So that in a nutshell is why my life sucks. Because I have a thick cloak of hair all over my upper back, neck, upper arms, shoulders, chest and stomach. O ya, don't worry guys this wasn't because of roids. I've done one small cycle six months ago...so this has been a problem ever since I was 18. Nothing I can do except repulse women.

Some questions...

1) I wanna get a wax, once I'm more toned/ripped. Where can I find a professional outlet that'll do it for me?

2) Numerous people mention 'clippers' for the legs... what kind of clippers?

3) I have this cucumber nair that doesn;t do shit. Is there something else I should be using?

4) What sort of lotion would I need following a shave?

easy question to answer on #1: any good day spa or salon. Georgette Klinger, Elizabeth Arden; both top notch, national brands.

why clip the legs; just get a Mach 3 and some shaving cream, sit in the steam room and get them prepped, and then shave away in the showers. neat and easy

any sort of body lotion works; especially if you use the 'steam room' technique; anything to keep the skin moist and lubed...

I use the Philips Bodygroom to get it short, and a safety razor to get it smooth. When I bother at all.
I don't like either method, as I get a rash on my thighs with both methods.

I wax everything, arms, legs, chest and abdominal area. I shave my underpits and also i trim very short with a clipper my private areas. Wax it works the best especially on legs even though inner thighs waxing make you jump like crazy from pain but they show upa after 3-4 weeks plenty of time.

Shave chest & stomach daily in the shower, arms once/week, wife shaves my back once a week or so. Blades are the only way to go for me.

Charles

I am trying to use an IPL machine meant to use it once a week and for six weeks permanent as well the laser thing lasts for 5000 goes so more than enough for me to use when the mrs isn't looking. :)

How to Analyze Oil Analysis Reports

When all else fails, read the instructions. This is the well established rule of last resort; whether we are putting together a child's toy or trying to operate the latest electronic device. The oil analysis reports are the instructions for smooth running equipments.
Instruction manuals written today are reduced to five quick start steps with big pictures. Oil analysis reports begin with problem summaries and red-letter critical alerts. An oil analysis interpreter immediately glances at the top right hand box for lubricant and machine condition on oil analysis reports. Eyes then graze the summary of the oil sample and the problems found during oil analysis. Then oil analysis report readers grab what they can from the graphs of individual elemental tests.

I've shaved, waxed, naired, tried some cream crap from as seen on tv and used an electric.

Shaving- works great on my arms but destroys my chest and stomach. Below my belly button I bleed, get bumps and itch like hell. I don't do my chest or stomach anymore cause I wear a BP vest and sweat like crazy in the Cali heat.

Wax- hurt like nothing else and was unable to finish. Never again.

Nair- worked really good but made skin very sensitive and felt like a bad sunburn for a few days.

Cream from tv- did not do a damn thing except waste money.

Electric razor- use only when my hair is too thick to shave. Used on balls but didn't use a guard and am lucky I can balls instead of ball. Lol

My female friend told me she shaves her vag with Olay body wash with no probs. I now use this instead of shaving cream as it lets the razor glide smooth over the skin and doesn't irritate.

If I ever get the money saved I will look into electrolysis.
