Question about Western Union online

I see that you can use a credit card to wire funds nowadays? Is there a limit or any extra charges, or any other "safety issues" or anything I should know? Thanks

$999.99 is what they say is available for my w.u. funds. You can't add a text question online ,you must go to a w.u. to do that. Otherwise there is nothing you have to be aware of.

If you're worried about safety, just go to a local WU location and send CASH, that's the SAFEST way to go, just make sure you stick to sums under $500 (499 etc..).

if you are sending funds to "people" you have to go to western union because those "people" like to remain anonymous when they pick up the money you sent

i agree somewhat..
sending cash in person is best..
but transactions over $500 arent a concern.

Sending cash anonymously with WU requires a fake id. Thats is unless you can find a real ghetto place that does not follow the WU rules. Sending online with a credit card is not a good idea if you value your freedom, and as others said you can't use a test question, although if a source is smart they have a fake to pick shit up with.

In the US, the new WU policy that's coming out will be over $499 will require ID, that's why I said $500 at a time. Now, sometimes they ask and sometimes they don't (for domestic), but for almost ALL international they ask for ID.

Mr.X

my transaction would be under $500, and my only funds right now are a credit card, so I couldnt possibly send cash. Should I just wait it out until I get paid for my last project (could be months) or do u think I could do this WU online thing. Also, excuse my ignorance, but what do u mean "text question"?? And don't the people who pick up your money always have some different, fake ass name anyways? A little confused here, if anyone can clear my cobwebs, it would be much appreciated w/ karma on top.

Dont you have to send it to a specific person, who wouldnt be able to remain anonymous since they would need ID to receive the money? I guess I'm just WU illiterate, help me out here, pm if necessary. thanks

yes with wu you need to know the name address of the person u are sending the money to. unless they are using an alias, but they still have a name, and you know it. you can go to wu website and use your card there if you want. some people may frown on it, but i have bros that say they do it all the time.

I sent money to someone using WU online for 'consulting fees.' They required the following:
1)The name, city, and country of the person who is to pick up the money.
2)All of my info
3)On top of that, I had to call their customer service, verify I am who I am, give them a whole bunch more info(like my perm. addy, perm number, etc)
They informed me that this was a measure they took for first time online senders.

BEWARE! If you use your credit card to pay for a Western Union online transaction it will not be billed as a credit transaction, but rather it will be charged as a cash advance for the entire thing! This can result in a very large fee! Also if sending funds internationally,on the western union online I did not see a place to select "receive funds in U.S. dollars" This will force you to pay a fee for currency exchange as well!

I use western union on sometimes a weekly basis. I have never had an issue to date. I do know one can only send a certain amount online per month...I think its like a $1000 anything over that you have to call and speak to a person. I have no idea how that could be done with a fake id if you are using a debit or credit card because they call my bank and then call me back with the phone # Bank of America has on file to reach me just for these cases. I'm glad they do that...its only done for my protection. Hope that helps someone...
FKH

I forgot to mention that it will cost you about $100 per thousand that you send.

I like to deal with them over the phone. They a 1-800 number that work well if you don't like using the web

I think what he meant to say earlier was "test question". If you go to a WU store you can add a test question & answer, so that the person picking up the money is not required to have an I.D. of any kind. That is how a person remains anonymous. You make up a question & then add the answer. You would then send this info (test question & answer) to the person.

Damn that's bullshit. There goes that idea. How can they even consider that a cash advance? Odd, and sheitty. Guess my cycle will have to wait a bit. Anyone else w/ "credit card only" funds like me, that have figured out a way to transfer money to certain overseas cats? (Cats=a slang word for "people" of course) :kitty:

I have purchased goods from overseas using the WU website a million frigging times. I have never had a problem. But you should try to break your purchase up into multiples of 500 if possible.

Yeah, I would only be sending about 400. So did you use a credit card? Did u get charged like it was a cash advance?? By the way check out this backyard ghetto brawl: http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=355660

Western union is a huge pain in the ass. I agree WU is doing some scary things. I have had to have phone interviews to get money to go through. I used to use a fake name and would just drive to different WU's to keep it under 1k but they started asking questions. They said this person i was sending to was rec large amounts of money blah blah and said they do not have to let it go through if i did not tell them what it was for. Now they want ID for just about any amount. Just have your girlfriends send funds for you. lol Make sure they dont run with it. haha.

go to any mexican shop (preferably in la) and use their money services. MUCH cheaper and requires almost NO id whatsoever (most illegals don't even have any ids but need to send money back home). It's what all the ahem, dealers in human cognitive enjoyment products, ahem, use nowadays to send money out of the country. And for political correctness reasons, the feds don't track money sent from hispanics, who they are, where they get it, or where it's going. Win/win situation.

you gotta speak spanish most places tho.

Does anyone know about the Australian WU services if they require ID. All im looking to send is $120US. Thats $152AUD, does that mean I give the clerk $152AUD and when she sends it to my friend he recieve US money or AUS money. Thanx

Dont use WU at the local money mart, these folks are much more strict. Here is what I do, make friends with one of the local mom and pop shops that do WU on the side. They will never give you a hard time. For instance, turns out that closest WU to me is actually a Donair shop. Awesome donairs there. I started going there all the time, always complementing the owners Donairs and how they were the best in town. Now I do all my WU there. No cameras there, he dosent even ask me "purpose of transaction" anymore, which I fuckin hate being asked, always feel they can tell I am lying, lol, and I have WU'd over 1K with him on several accounts. Dosent ask for my ID either anymore. He is happy to have my business (for both Donairs and WU, lol), think the last thing he wants to do is piss me off.
