I have a 16 year old son who went through HGH treatment since age 9. he was diagnosed with a GH deficiency at 9, but tested normal since he was 5 until then. my wife is 4"9" and I am 6'. So we had him tested since he was very young. the blood was tested and xrays done to give him a bone age buy looking at the open growth plates.
To answer your question on dosage specifically. He was started on 2 IU's per day. that lasted 3 months and the dosage was increased to 2.5 IU's 3 months later 3 IU's and then 3.5 IU's. that dosage lasted for the duration of his treatment.
the growth was amazing with little or no side effects. headache on occasion was the worst of it. there where times when we charted over an inch of growth in 3months. prior to that his growth potential was in the lower 10 percent of average and he was estimated to be 5' 6" as an adult.
He made it to 5'11" before his growth plates closed at age 15. I could swear I grew alot after that age.... but when the plates are closed HGH has no effect on bone growth.
Contrary to what others have said, My understanding of HGH from my sons Endo was, Unlike testosterone, Natural GH production is NOT diminished due to non-indigenous forms of the hormone. If his body produced "X" amount of HGH, his shots would supplement, not replace that. This was something I discussed with him more than once.
I have nothing but great things to say about HGH, the stuff really helped my son. I would do it again, but I would not do it without a qualified Endo overseeing it. After all its not my life its my sons...
Thanks
Jim
