Im so glad you had fun & enjoyed it, that's what matters :)
I enjoyed it very much. Da Punkin  was running around jabberin away, then she would turn, smile, saunter over to where I was sitting, smile again and then open up for a bite. :qt: That face was more than worth all the guilt.

A little later here, but one way to look at it is a RE-FEED - not a cheat. Your body needs a re-feed occasionally. When dieting, especially low carb, you need a day/meal of higher carbs to jumpstart leptin levels. Leptin levels become low when you ar ein a caloric deficit and/or are low carbing. Leptin helps to regulate your appetite and metabolism. When you are dieting, levels lower. Leptin also helps with energy.

Especially since you are so busy, you need to make sure you re-feed a couple times a week.

I would take 2 days, spaced out ... say, Monday and Thursday and have one meal that is higher in CLEAN CARBS. An extra serving of sweet potato, extra serving of oatmeal, etc. Maybe pick your two busiest days to have the extra carbs.

Do this instead of a "cheat meal".

Oh darn, I have to eat an extra sweet potato or oatmeal. :p
Is brown rice an option?

I've noticed that over the course of this, the year from hell, that it's getting harder and harder for me to choose "bad foods."

I do believe that's called progress. ;)

I really like this idea, the word cheat has so many negative feelings attached to it but refeed...I like the sound of that one much better. :chomp:

I agree.

I was thinking about what DG said and I don't think I have a problem with the phrase "cheat meal" maybe because I sort of understood why it's needed.

The problem I have with the cheat meal is the choice of food. I wasn't thinking of a cheat meal as "eating extra good stuff," I was thinking of cheat meals as having to eat junk food or food that isn't good for me.

Then I would stress over my choice and wonder how much damage I'd done to my progress.

*smacks self on forehead* ....and all this time all I had to do was eat a little more of the good stuff! How did I NOT understand that previously?

Well tonites my last nite off for another week. I'm planning on trying DG's carb re-feed on 2 days this week, planning on doing it Wed & Fri. Gonna add some brown rice to the mix along with the sweet potato.

Here's what the menu looks like for the rest of the week:

Meal 1
48 oz coffee w/splenda & ff creamer
.5 c oatmeal w/splenda, cinnamon
.5 scoop BF vanilla protien powder mixed in oatmeal
1 tsp glutamine mixed in oatmeal
multi-vit

Meal 2
6 oz chicken
8 oz green veggie (choices:sugar snap peas, green beans, broccolli)
1 tsp flax oil
1 pc Healthylife Flax & Omega3 bread *or* 1/2 Low carb/cal whole grain flatbread

Meal 3
6 oz chicken
1 med sweet potato
1 pc Healthylife Flax & Omega3 bread *or* 1/2 Low carb/cal whole grain flatbread

***on re-feed day I will eat .5 cup(17g carbs) brown rice before I leave job 1***

Meal 4 (the sammich is eaten on the way to work)
2 pcs Healthylife Flax & Omega3 bread
2 tbsp Skippy NPB
2 tbsp Smuckers sf blackberry jam
1 adult bib

Meal 5 (15 min breaktime)
1 protein bar

Meal 6 (approx 10:30pm'ish)
12 oz 2% milk
1 serving ON Pro Complex PM

On NON Re-Feed days the macros will be roughly:
Total: 1831
Fat: 52, 27%
Carbs: 171, 31%
Protein: 181, 42%

On Re-Feed days the macros will be roughly:
Total: 1906
Fat: 52, 26%
Carbs: 188, 33%
Protein: 183, 41%

Calorie range is currently 1600-1920

Is the carb ratio on re-feed days going to be high enough with the addition of the brown rice or do I need to change out the green veggie on those days for another sweet potato instead of the rice?

Mood: agitated
Weather: It's Raining and cold
Weight: 161 lbs.

I have the day off from j1 so I slept in a bit longer than I wanted. (Did I not hear that alarm at all? It's 3 foot from my head.....) I woke up all puffy. Checked the calendar - yep, just about that time and as usual mother nature sent extra baggage before her arrival.

I had planned on getting up and getting some of the basement painting done before I have to go to work at j2. It's 11:30am and I'm still in jammies but at least I've taken the dog out and managed to eat breakfast. :Chef:

The back of my foot/ankle hurts like a muther! Since my name ISN'T Grace I decided to run into the back of my own leg with a cart. Dumbass. It hit so hard that it instantly bruised and removed a bit of skin - no blood though.

My limbs feel like concrete. I better go pop a couple of gentle iron caps and a tylenol.........

EF is a very comfortable "place" to be. I've learned so much in the last year about my body and myself. Thank you EF'ers. :rose: 2007 is gonna rock. :garza:
