pyruvate...?

can someone tell me about their experience with pyruvate...?

why you take it and what effects you get from it...

what doses and at what time do you take it...

i tried pyruvate when it first appeared on the market. i thought for sure that this would be the fat burner of the year. I was sadly mistaken. After taking pyruvate i would have to run to the bathroom. The stuff gave me the shits.
I think i was taking it twice a day but i'm not sure, your better off saving your money than trying a bottle. Believe me, pyruvate is crap.

I agree with enrage. Tried it, gave me the shits, and left me no more lean than if i had taken ex lax. Stick to ppa or xenadrine. Atleast those keep you going all day long all day strong.

from what i've been told, all of the studies done on pyruvate with positive results were achieved using doses over 15gms. The average capsule that you'd buy is only about 750-1000mg. That's why it doesn't work in the real world...they were using a whole friggin bottle per day for the "amazing results" that they achieved. Pyruvate for weight loss was a scam all the way.

Huh...

I use it as a lactate acid buffer for my races. It works very well too!!! :smash:

cozmo-You're running a marathon right (at least you've posting alot of questions about running)?? You might try a serving for a lactic acid buffer 20mins before a hard run.

fhg43...

a dose as a lactic acid buffer... so that won't help me
during the race but rather after... is that correct...?

That will help DURING the race. You'll probably get into a few situations in the marathon-going up a hill or the last few miles-where your legs will burn from the lactic acid surplus. Pyruvate will function as a buffer and you might not feel it at all.

I have used Twin Labs Pyruvate Fuel and I'd take 3 tabs before a race and notice that the lactic burn was lessened. It is possible that you might not push yourself to the point where you'll have a lot of lactic acid build up. You would get lactic acid build up by running the entire marathon right at your aerobic threshold. If you could do that in your first marathon...that'd be impressive. That level of effort is difficult for experienced runners to achieve.

I think it is more useful for shorter faster events like 5-15k races. I wonder if it would help for lifting? It may help your post run recovery. It has no negative sides in the dosage I suggested so I think its worth a try.

What marathon are you going to do and when? I am hoping to doone this fall, but I don't know if I want to risk injury. I am also unsure if I want to run for 3.5 hours too!!!

new york city in november... and the san diego marathon in january...

didn't do crap for me, but that's me. I remember about 4 years ago when it came out it was a big deal, now I didn't think they still made it.
