Puttting on weight at bedtime?

I keep hearing the myth, for people with high metabolisms such as me that You can put on some weight by eating certain foods right before bed.

Which foods?

I also have a high metabolic rate, but I must admit I never heard of that one! Eating before bed normally gives me restless sleep or mild insomnia, so I just compromise on a milk based beverage like ovaltine. Other alternatives would be 6 bottles of beer or some hairy meat pie.............

It would not be a good idea to eat a large amount of carbohydrate containing foods, especially those containing sugars, right before bed. This would provide your body with all sorts of energy it does not need to sleep. As a result, it would be stored to fat more easily than if you were awake being at least semi active.

I always eat before bed. This morning I woke up at 5:00am and made pasta and meatballs w/a protein shake and went back to bed for 3 more hours. I used to make 4 hard-bolied eggs and set my alarm for 6 hrs after I fell asleep and wake up for some eggs and a glass of milk and go back to bed but I have gotten lazy.

This is an awesome way for naturally skinny guys like me to get big. When I started working out first everyone though I was juiced because I put on about 30lbs in a few months but I was just eating constantly even waking up to eat. Now I'm about 50lbs heavier than I was 5 yrs ago and just started my 1st cycle so its natural. And I can see my abs so it didn't make me fat.

as for what foods: I ate whatever as long as its healthy, but mostly slow-absorbing protein before bed like milk, eggs, cottage cheese and other dairy products.

But after a while I started waking up with a growling stomach even when I hadn't set my alarm. I saw it as a good thing though - another chance to fill my stomach and grow.

I also suffer from high metabolism. If I manage to wake up in the middle of the night, I cannot accomplish more than re-adjust my pillow.
I plan on making protein bars and carry them with me during the day, this way I will never get hungry.

Eggs and milk or egg protein with milk does the trick for me but I love the taste of eggs. I like a nice chunk of cheese while I'm reading in bed too.
