Punchbag for cardio?

I want to lose some weight towards the end of this year, around 15-20 lbs, weighing 235-240 at the moment. I am considering buying a punch bag and boxing equipment possibly a skipping rope (jump rope) to lose weight. Does anyone have any experience that a punch bag would help to lose weight, is it an intense enough activity? I am also considering what type of bag to get, thinking of a lighter bag 30kg (67lbs) so it can move around more which would mean i would have to move around more. Are there any other benefits that might come across into weightlifting? Thanks.

I have a stationary bike, Ski machine, 80lb punching bag, jump rope....all to help switch around cardio workouts. It works as long and you keep moving on your feet and stay active during the workout.

I'd go with an 80lb bag, it doesnt move too much but you can get it swinging pretty decently so you have to move around in your workout.

I have a Bob the mannequin bag that I use for kickboxing. They are a little more money than plain heavy bags but I think it makes it a little more enjoyable. I burn the most cals on it compared to any other cardio. Skipping rope is good to. I usually warm up by skipping rope for a few minutes before hitting the bag. Great workout IMO.
