protien

I eat 470g a day, every day, same thing every day. All but 66g is derived from whole foods. The only time I utilize a whey based protein shake is imediately following training. At this time I have a 66g shake with 110g of maltodextrin. That's it. The rest is from whole foods. Whole foods in my opinion are far superior than whey powders. Whey is great post workout due to it's rapid entry into the blood stream, but it must be consumed with ample simple sugars in order for the protein to actually be used for muscle regenerating/building purposes. Otherwise whey digests too quickly and has a low net protein efficiency. Whole foods offer better net protein efficiency thus more protein gets used for what we need it to be used for...GROWTH.

I'm with beezers.
The only time i drink a protein shake is after a workout.
The rest comes from whole foods.

I would like to have the luxury of being able to actually eat all day, but unfortuantely, I can't because of work. So I have to bring a cooler with me to work and mix up my shakes, where most of my protein comes from.

I like to drink a big bottle of chocolate milk each day when I am bulking though. It has lots of protein, but also has a lot of carbs and fat too. But it is easy calories, and like I said, I use it for bulking.

beezers, could you give us a play by play on your diet? I've been trying to get more whole food protein intake... what do each of your meals consist of? Times?
Thanks bro

This is what my current bulking diet looks like. I eat this menu every day like clockwork. Consistancy is the root of success. On Sundays I'll toss in some ice cream or some "untouchable goodie".

3 cups cottage cheese
1 large banana

MEAL 2 10:00am
16 egg whites
1 cup cottage cheese
4 slices whole grain bread
2 tbsn. natural penut butter

MEAL 3 1:00pm(post workout)
3 scoops whey protein
1 natures best perfect carb drink

MEAL 4 3:00pm
10oz. steak
2 cups brown rice

MEAL 5 5:00pm
10oz. ground turkey
2 cups brown rice

MEAL 6 7:00pm
8oz. fresh salmon
4 slices whole grain bread
6 large brocoli spears

MEAL 7 9:30pm
10oz. steak
1 medium potato
6 large brocoli spears

TOTALS
calories- 5085
protein- 471
carbs- 518

The steak is eye of round. The cottage cheese is 1% milk fat. The protein powder is Optimum 100% whey.
