Protein Side Effects, et al...

Couple questions from a total newbie:

1. Can someone direct me (or just tell me) to information on the negative effects of ingesting too much protein? Every time I start up with MetRx I invariably end up with severe constipation despite the fact that I drink nearly a gallon of water per day. The only way I was able to offset this was to make sure to (literally) eat an apple a day along with it. Are there any negative effects on the bloodstream, cholesterol, heart health, with excessive protein? My entire family has a history of heart disease, and person in it (male and female) has died of it. I don't want to toy with my arteries ...

2. Can someone direct me (or just tell me) to a list of the highest protein foods out there? Im sure there are billions of websites, but a really nice neat easy to understand list of the name of the food with its typical protein content in grams would be phenomenal.

Hey Hlt! Welcome to the boards! Your first question about health I cant address to well cuz I have the same problem and at 23 havent tested high protein diets long enough to know the ill effects. But here are some very high protein foods:

tuna,eggs,chicken,milk,red meat,cheese and fish to name some offhand. Hope that helps

theres still peanut butter and bread maybe. Try to eat chicken breast too and not other parts. Breast is the healthest part of a chicken as it has no fats or little fats in it unlike thighs or drumstick. A can of tuna deffinatly would give you a kick but unfortuatly you would most likely puke like i did if you eat strait from the can. try to eat it with bread. [/b]MILK[/b] is the most important in your diet. Most bodybuilders would drink bout a litre or more milk a day. For me, i consume a litre of milk a day which provides me with 50g of protein a day. in other terms, 5g of protein per serving/200ml of milk.
 
protein powder makes you constipated?
Instead of an apple, mix some psyllium husk powder into that protein-- the fiber will help--- flax oil also helps for healthy trips to the throne!
 
protein makes me shit seven ways from sunday...i agree flax oil and olive oil...i think like a tablespoon or two of canola oil is supposed to help you shit...just a guess though...feelin' for ya man

was it just a bad day or did i have one to many protein shakes becuz i think i had "protein" farts.
 
Man, the last 3 weeks bulking my stomach has gone to crap. dunno if it is the shakes, the milk, all the protein, or just having so much food in my stomach but my body was in shock as this is the first time I have force fed myself. I know what you mean man....
