Pro sports are heading downhill....

Sports used to be great. The guys played with a lot of heart and soul and I enjoyed cheering them on.

Then the saleries rose to stratispheric heights and the public got "forced" into buying new stadiums for the billionaire owners. The "buy it or I'll move it" ploy. Of course we bought them their damned stadiums, we used to care about their teams.

Now we root for jerseys. The names of the players change so fast that emotional attachment to individual players doesn't have time to develop. Teams seem heartless as well. A great player will give his heart and soul to the team. Some almost seem to bleed the team colors. Then they get axed because a rookie is cheaper and they finish their careers elsewhere.

The refs really suck. They will stare at indisputable evidence on instant replay and refuse to change the call. Just pure selfish, stupid arrogance.

The players have grown soft. Who wouldn't if they made that kind of money. Their intensity and "heart and soul" is nowhere to be seen most of the time. They will turn it on when they have to and cruise the rest of the time.

I'm really pretty well done with pro sports. Hardly anybody loved the Broncos more than me in years past. Now I'm happy not having to suffer through another of their financial machinations on a football field.

I see more intensity in a porno. Seriously.

Salaries only rose because people watched on TV, and advertisers were willing to pay. It's economics.

Teams are typically a huge revenue boost for the cities they are in, so the threat to move was a real threat.

I agree with you, but only the economics of sports have changed, as more people have found ways to get rich off of the abilities of other people.

It will decline soon. It;s cyclical.

That's why I prefer College Sports...the players don't get paid as much.

Plus they play with their hearts. I'm sure they care more about winning than most guys who are making six figures plus per game.

It will be interesting when salaries start going down because the economics will force it.

LOL. Yeah, the football players up at FSU and Uf only had one Escalade on 22's each, not the usual 3 or 4 vehicles of a pro player.

Ah yes...cruising University Blvd. From 13th St to Ben Hill Griffin. Easy to pick out the Football Players' rides.
