Premade Boxes for squatting-HELP PLEASE!

Anyone have a BFS squat box?

Here is the URL

Bigger, faster, stronger squatboxes

Anyway, I emailed them asking what the dimensions were b/c I needed one that was 12" high.

The guy replied saying "we do not give out that info. the boxes are used for different height
athletes. anyone under 5'8" uses a short, 5'8" to 6'1" uses a medium, 6'2" to 6'6" uses a tall, and anyone over 6'6" uses X-tall squat box."

I know how to build a box as per Dave Tate's instructions, but I won't have access to power tools and lumber for a few more weeks and want to start getting used to the box squats ASAP (just ordered the WSB squatting tape) since I am nursing a sore pec and will be for awhile. My flat bench is about 20" high so that wont work. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Any insight would be deeply appreciated.

First off...glad to hear that you are going to start box squatting. Secondly, that company sounds like they have piss poor customer service....wont give you information about a product you are going to buy??!

Anyway since you wil be able to build boxes in a couple weeks you just need a temporary solution. You can use those aerobic steps that you can find at any "fitness center" for now..they are adjustable.

Cool, your advice as always is appreciated.

And yes, their customer service apparently sucks donkey balls. I wouldn't buy from them even if I did find out the dimensions now that I think about it.

I am going to try and find some of the aerobic step thingies unless I can find a better solution.

Thank you.

I'd wait until you can build your own. New training is always exciting, but don't get too excited and waste cash. If you can't find a substitute just do some explosive reps from parallel for your speed day.

Do What I Did -

GO to Home Depot with a dimensions you need cut and have a guy cut it all for you. They are supposed to charge for additional cuts but they didn't charge me. I took it home and nailed it together. done. total cost - $20.

Dom-- you're right, those step aerobics things are like 30bucks a piece and I'd have to buy two of them. But I am not going to squat without a box because my form is bad right now. I was taught to squat olympic style and have put off all squatting until I can learn how to do it correctly, on a box. In the meantime I can do sumo squats, lunges, reverse hypers, and GHRs to strengthen my posterior chain.

CK-- That is good advice for most but my father is a framing sub-contracter. I am going to try to visit the parents ASAP and when I do I can get the wood for free and use the appropriate tools. I framed houses for awhile, so I can build a good box. Trust me, hand driven nails suck as far as I am concerned, they cannot compare to a nailgun, no way no how. Plus, I am going to glue these suckers with f-22 (it's what they use to put the floor down on houses) so they will last a lifetime. I want to build some bigger boxes out of 2x6's, 2x8's, 2x10's, or 2x12's as well. I think a single box made out of 2x12s would be sturdier than the standard 3- 2x4 boxes, and if I put a 1 and 1/4" piece of oxboard on the top then that would make it extremely solid and damn near exactly 12" in height.

The options are limitless.

Again, the advice is appreciated.

Home depot has pre cut 24x24" plywood that makes boxmaking a snap . Also Sarden has a pre made steel adjustable box that looks pretty sweet if you feel like spending the $ .

I checked out the Sarden box, it looks to be very well made. Unfortunately, it costs 175 dollars plus 65 dollars shipping. I would love to buy it but the cost to benefit ratio for the Sarden piece is too high, especially since I can build a damn good box for pretty much free. One day when I am rich I will buy some of their other stuff, though, they have bad ass equipment.
