pre workout carb ???

After doing some research,I have decided to start using honey as a preworkout carb.My question is,How soon before my workout should I take it,so it is timed right?Lately my workouts have been taking about 1hr 45min.(including cardio after weight training).I want to time it so it's fully effective during my whole workout. Thanks in advance for any input.

you need to eat complex carbs preworkout to give you sustained glucose through the workout. If you eat something sugary or that is high on the GI index your body will release insulin and your blood sugar levels will drop.

brown rice or oatmeal are good preworkout carb sources.

I eat breakfast before hitting the gym,1/2 cup oatmeal(dry measure),and 5 eggwhites ,with 1 whole egg.I just figured the honey would give me extra energy, since the complex carbs are so slow.Is this a bad idea?

thats your problem. get 2 or more good meals in you before you go to the gym. eat the simple carbs post w/o.

if you have no other option but to go to the gym after only 1 meal than consume verry small amounts of simple carbs through your w/o. sipping on some kind of juice would work.

just add more oatmeal, 1/2 a cup is only 27 carbs, go for a 1 1/2 cups 30-45mins before the workout and you will have plenty of energy.

Unfortunately I have to workout 1st thing in the morning(I get up at 4:30 am to get to the gym,and be on time for work),so I only have time for 1 meal prior to working out.I will take your advise and sip on some gatorade while working out. Thanks

I will give that a try also,I am not sure if my stomach can handle that much oatmeal right before a workout,I will see what happens.

an easier way to eat oat meal is to not cook it. Just measure your 1 1/2 cups, add cold water and 1 scoop of whey. It tastes good and goes down easy because its not as much volume to eat as if you were to cook it with hot water.

could you w/o at some point after work? or maybe go to bed and get up earlier?
