Powerlifting and running?

Hi, I'm a beginning powerlifter. Because of low volume training I have started gaining weight again, a lot of which is fat. Here's my Q: is it OK to run if you are a powerlifter? If so, how often?

is it likely to affect my strength gains?

I'm totally opposite from you, I'm really thin and can't add weight but everything I have read is if your wanting stregenth gains, don't do anything but lift and eat right. Most of the cock strong lifters like the extra weight, helps add muscle. I'm sure some bigger guys will be more help than I am.

As a former athlete I had to implement powerlifting with a lot of speed, and explosive training! I was training as hardcore and at a elight level as possible! If you are going for just the cardio effects then the more you run, the less your gains will be! But unless you are a top athlete you dont have to worry about your gains as much! If you are running a couple of days a week! Plyometrics and sprint training are great ways to lower your bodyfat while keeping your powerlifting gains! But if you start running, jogging five days a week for extended periods of time your gains will be harder to come by! From the little I know from your post! You could run, jog for a warm-up and cool down before your lifting a couple of days a week! Keep track of your gains and BF! Then according to the results and your goals you can adjust the time and frequency accordingly!

sled dragging and maximum output sprinting will not decrease your gains, if anything they will increase your work capacity and eventually your gains, just don't go overboard too fast...let your body adjust to two sessions a week then three then maybe four but keep them short--no more than thirty minutes

OMG! You have a really distracting way of writing! I mean, every sentence is an exclamation! That is really annoying! Even more annoying than writing in all CAPS!
