post gyno op, weird observation

elitetoxin

New member
had gyno op, almost 4 weeks ago.
Its going pretty well, besides the fact the i cant stretch my left arm straight up without some pain. The weird part is the _location_ of the pain, wich is somewhere on the lower left ribcage, some 15-20cm's from the nipple?
Allright, i thought i'd just give it some more time, allthough a bit weird.. then i tested it again today, and while i can extent a bit more, the pain still comes back.
Now to the very weird part, i took my right hand to rub the area on the ribs, to find out that something was sticking out!! a long straight line, like a string that was being extended under the skin, with direction straight up to the nip area and down till below the ribcage area.

Now what the fuck is that ? did the doc 'forget' something inthere? I have a hard time imagining this could be normal!! will be calling him first thing monday of course!!
In the meantime ... i dont suppose anyone else have experienced anything similiar ??

you would be experience your normal pains associated with the gyno - they can be anywhere in the chest region, but i have no clue what the string thingy is..you did have it removed by a plastic surgeon, right?

I never experienced anything like that with my operation.. Id be curious to hear about what your doc says.. Keep us posted, please!

Sounds like you found a suture,

They are resorbable, so leave it alone; it is holding fascia and muscle together to heal.

lol, yes, by a plastic surgeon ... or atleast i think he is!! (naw, he's good heh;)

A suture ? To hold fascia and muscle together? .. why would he cut into muscle to remove gyno .. and secondly why would such a suture extend down to solar plexus from the nip area (and how the hell did he get all the way down there from a lil hole in the nip? and third "resorbable", shouldnt it be about 'absorbed' by now ? (could he have used the wrong kinda suture!`?)

If you had liposuction along with excision, it sounds like it might be scar tissue caused by the liposuction cannula.

Im trying to remember when I had mine done, I dont remember him saying i had sutures on the inside, but I could be wrong.. I had like 4 stitches on each nipple(on the outside) and that was it.. I told you I had some pain before, but it was relieved after the blood was withdrawn..

no lipo!
And yea, i still got two sore spots, but thats right behind the nipples (i was a light gyno case, but enough to annoy me!!) .. this thing is not sore at all, just 'emits' a little pain when stretched! just tried to do a few pullups .. they're doable as long as i dont extent my arms totally..

Im surprised lipo wasnt done, unless you didnt have any fatty tissue buildup in there to begin with.. Before my surgery, my doc told me he would lipo the fat out..Im very glad he did, my chest looks alot better..

well, he said that he didnt need to do lipo when he formulated the pricetag ... so i highly susptect that he didnt do lipo! ... but i guess anything is possible.. ill know for sure monday!

thanks for all the replies btw ..

None. I had mine done this past May2006! Its now December 06, and everything is fine! Best thing I could have done for myself..

I honestly cant see him not doing it, I mean if there is a bunch there, why not remove it?? It only takes a few seconds.. My doc was joking and he said he did mine for free.. I know it probably was included in the total cost!

sounds like you got ripped off to me. My plastic surgeon said that for a regular lipo excision, they can either perform an ultra-sonic lipo on the entire chest region then go into the chest through a small hole and use the lipo cannula to remove the fatty tissue. Then, they would remove the lumps, if there were any. Since I had lumps, he made small incisions like a quarter of a circle on the lower portion of the areola and removed them there and entered into that area and removed the fat across the chest. It's basically all in one for the great low price of 5500$. For an extra 3k , they removed my fat on the front abs/flanks :) Oh btw, my insurance paid over 6k in bills including the gyno removal :) lipo/gyno removal is part of the price..

But, it does make sense if the doctor went up through a small hole using a cannula - that would leave a raised feeling like your describing. Either way, call your doctor and he'll call you back asap. They're pretty good that way , if they are good that is :)

If you had gyno, certain lumps are much more easily removed permanently with a scalpel than lipo.

If he removed the gyno then he would still need to reattach the fascia, and he would need to reattach it to muscle, where else would he suture it, skin, bone?

Resorbable sutures last for different lengths of time 6 months to 36 months, I would suspect he put something in there that lasted at least 12 months.

The goal is to have the tissue heal before the suture looses any strength.

and how the hell did he get all the way down there from a lil hole in the nip?

That is a fair question, I don’t know, but gyno, like a wart can’t appear, for instance under the breast, maybe it was attenuated, I don’t know unless it had a root type appendage. Or the fascia may have needed reinforcement, ???????????????

Good questions for the surgeon

thanks!

actually when he was formulating the pricetag and said that he didnt need to do lipo, i responded that i didnt care very much what he had to do or not to do, i was only interrested in the result, so do whatever gives me the best result, and he was like, "yea of course, dont worry, be happy" (so maybe lipo isnt out of the question, i would just totally expect him to TELL me if he did something that deviated from the plan!)

I may have applied my own ignorance the the equation, as i've understood fascia to (only)be what contains the actual muscle fibers.. however the skin should be attached to something as well now shouldnt it .. that something is, i imagine, the fascia as well ;)

If that is a 6-36 month suture, it needs to become a hell of alot more flexible.. i would totally suck if i couldt do pullups or chins (or advanced sexual positions) for several years!!

Thanks again!

im also 4 weeks out i just stated lifting i have some pain and swelling and it hurts all around the nipple but i had lipo

4 weeks out? that's not giving much time for recovery, as long as you're not pushing yourself 2 hard..my surgeon told me to work out according to how my body felt..so i took it easy for a few months..still worked out, just didn't crazy :)

i started easing into 15 reps .. now they're getting somewhat heavy and ill have to go lower to go heavier ... but im feeling fine .. besides that string thingie under my skin .. wich is actually visible to the naked eye if i stretch it ..

ey, italianmuscle... do you have pics of before/after the surgery?

i'm probably going to have a surgery myself, just dont know WHEN yet.. have you cycled since the gyno op? if so, what did you experience?

thanks bro

update :

talked to the doc.
He said that its quite a quite common thing.
during surgery, removing the lumps, he cut a vein(guess it was in the way, or by accident?) and the result is just that, when it dies, it goes stiff like a string and then dissapears after a few months..
At present time i dont feel it anymore!
But i dont like the answer when i asked "Will i not *miss* this vein now ? A : "No, you got plenty of veins to take over to carry out the blood supply.. if you didnt, surgery would be next to impossible!" ..

what do you say, is he full of it ? .. going to ask my own doc too ...

bump, and ..

Like the rest you who've been down this road, you've been using this 'tape' to cover the scar tissue up, it keeps it in place and keeps it from stretching, and thus should leave a smaller scar.. when did you stop using that tape ? i've had my nipples taped up for like 3 weeks now lol!

i wish .. all i got was these non-prescription painkillers .. ibuprofen for a few days, and that was it ... Vikings dont need that shit ;)

wtf bro.. he cut a vein and then played it off like no big deal? And on top of it, he didn't even give you vico's or percs? wtf kind of doc is this..I'd question his skills and his credibility as a plastic surgeon. Sounds fishy to me.

to be honest, the pain was bearable! no biggie..
But i am interrested in the vein thing .. im googling the shit out of google and will be calling another doc to get a second oppinion on that first thing..
Apparantly though, unfit people are having veins removed from their legs all the time.. we're not just talking 'killed' here, but actually removed .. sounds like a very.. painful and nasty procedure!

i know what you mean bro, but docs take out veins for a reason tho..for him to perform such a simple procedure and kill a vein off..makes me wonder.that's all :P
