When I cooked for Entemans bakery we used it to cool down the mixing vats. I screwed up once and used a 55 gal drum of that instead of Glycerine (both looked the same in/out of drum) Apparently it's a form of antifreeze, I wouldn't be drinking the stuff.

I think you're thinking propylene and ethylene glycol. Cats and wino's love that stuff.
